Story Behind The Song

I had not realized how many people are homeless until i saw some footage my cousin had shot in San Frascisco on a job for the Police dept. After seeing this I had to write a song about it. I thought it would have been a hit by now. I guess i was too early. 1990 I wrote this and shot a video using someof the footage from that shoot my cousin did. Open Your Eyes is about realizing that most of us are only 3 paychecks away from being homeless.

Song Description

This is a problem that has hit almost every city and now even small towns. Homeless folks. For what ever reason there has to be a way we can help them with out making them feel like they are getting a hand out. Let them work on govmt land and let them build their own homes and then live in them. If they just had another chance to get their feet back on the ground. Do you realize that many people are just 3 paychecks away from being homeless? It is true. I wrote this song in 1990 when it was happening in San Francisco and Los Angeles but now it is even in small towns all across this land. This should be the Homeless anthom. Open your eyes people, dont act like you dont see them. Our govmt. will give 20,000 refugees from some country that can'r stand the US free homes and food and medical. While our US citezens are living in the streets! This is repulsive to say the least. Get them into a program if they are on drugs and if they aren't then get them into a building program that will let them build their own homes on govmt. land. It's a simple fix. Just do it.
