Story Behind The Song
a very nice lady walked into my studio one day and said I have some words I'd like you to rewrite and put some music to. She said it's about a truck driver and his life. I took those words home and wrote in another verse and put it into song verses. The music just flowed out of me. I pictured Merle Haggard singing this tune and making a huge hit out of it. We actually sold several hundred cassettes at truck stops thanks to her husband who she wrote the original poem about. Her name is Ginny Scaglioni and I hope I get some other poems from her.
Song Description
A truck drivers life is a lonely one at times especially when you have little kids at home and a wife you are missing really bad. But the road can be just as bad, if it is in your blood to drive those 18 wheelers then there is no way to keep you from highway rainbow.
