Story Behind The Song

My wife is an October baby and a lover of Halloween decorations. As her birthday approached one year, I sought to express my appreciation and love for our relationship and the wonderful marriage we had built, while using a bit of dark imagery to acknowledge that a relationship is not easy. We sacrifice a bit of ourselves to each other in a way. "Hand me your head, and I will hand my your heart." It was a lot of fun putting this together, with its tongue-in-cheek wordplay and a fun tempo change along the way. In the end, the song is a celebration of love, with a wink and nod.
