Lyrics
Freda was a good old Carolina gal
She was married to Larry who was a good old Carolina man
Freda was doing the best that she can
Workin hard on that marriage
But you know she couldn't do it all by herself
She (kinda) needed Larry to give a little help
But Larry was reluctant
He had his own ideas of marriage
So finally after years of trying and frustration
Freda decided to try a little separation
And that got his attention
One night Freda decided to go to the costume ball
Not only that, she was gonna be evil
She was gonna dress up like the Devil
So she got a big black cape and a long red tail
Got some shiny red horns, (put 'em up in her hair)
And red lips and fingernails
About as red as they could git
And off she went, as the devil
And that really got his attention
And so he called up the preacher, and over the preacher came
And he told him all the things about how she was to blame
Preacher said boy we got to talk to this woman of yours
Let her see what she's been doin' wrong
Meanwhile over at the costume ball
Freda meets a man named Jesus and they start dancing the tango
She really likes it
Jesus is really good at the tango
And it's almost as much fun as she's ever had
They make quite a couple
Freda dressed up like the devil
Jesus dressed up like a San Diego padre with Wayfarers on
Everybody stops dancing and is watching
Meanwhile Larry and the preacher are figuring out how to save Freda's soul when the phone rings. And it's Billy from the party and he says Larry, Freda's here all dressed up like the Devil and she's dancing with a Mexican baseball player named Jesus. She's got a red rose in her teeth and they're dancing real close and well, you know...it don't look too good
And that got his attention
Larry and the preacher jump into Larry's black Dodge Ram pickup and drive like demons over to the Fallen Angels Catholic Church where the costume ball is going on.
They burst in and see Freda in full devil regalia dancing in a very sinful way with some guy in tight white pants and sunglasses, who they can barely see because he's almost completely wrapped up in Freda's black cape.
The preacher says "Larry, I don't know whether to exorcise the devil from Freda or Freda from the Devil."
Larry says "You just get that devil out of her and I'll get her out of that costume."
They run up to Freda and pull her away and the preacher puts his hand on her head. He yells "Out devil out!"
Freda looks stunned for a minute, and then smiles and says, "Oh Larry, I'm out. I'm gone. I found Jesus."
And that got his attention.
Freda's just another girl with nothing left to lose....
