Story Behind The Song
A female friend of mine who is a Texas cattle rancher was describing to me a man she had met in a bar one time. Of him, she said: "You know, he had way more hat than cattle." Sounded like a great country song hook to me....
Song Description
A guy comes in a bar with a big cowboy hat. Problem is, it's way too clean. Then when he speaks and when he tries to interact with the ladies, he gives himself away. So the real cowboys give him a bit of a comeuppance as the ladies, I'm sure, looked on with amusement.

Lyrics
VERSE
Comin' in here actin' like a stud hoss
Gettin' just a bit too close to the lip gloss
Lookin' for a fight the way he's comin' across
VERSE
Well, he's doin' real well at the sabre rattle
Hope he's not really lookin' for a battle
He can't be from Texas; maybe from Seattle
'Cause he's got way more hat than cattle
CHORUS
He's got way more hat than cattle
He's comin' on strong, but he's bouncin' in the saddle
If he keeps on, it's up the creek without a paddle
Now he's got way more hat than cattle
VERSE
Now down here in Texas where the wildflowers grow
There's a few things we think we know
Such as how to treat a lady with respect
And how to spot a cowboy incorrect
Repeat CHORUS
BRIDGE
Now I'm about to tell him he should lose the spurs
And put his hat back in the box
'Cause if he says the wrong thing to a lady in here
She'll knock him right out of his socks
RIDE
Repeat CHORUS (2x)
TAG
Yeah, he's got way more hat than cattle
