Slingin' Beer And Callin' The Cops (explicit version)

Story Behind The Song

I was in a conversation with two women. One was explaining that she and her husband had had a really bad argument but that they sat down at either end of the kitchen table and worked it out. The other woman said: "Hell, if that was me and my husband, we'd be slingin' beer and callin' the cops." Needless to say, I jotted down that line.

Song Description

This is the latest episode where there is a fight between these spouses involving alcohol and escalating to domestic violence. She gets the kids to leave; he tries to stop her, resulting in "slingin' beer and callin' the cops."

You've gone screamin' and the car won't start
I wanta leave and take the kids with me
But you won't let us go, so I'll just be, yeah

CHORUS
(Yeah) Slingin' beer and callin' the cops
Gettin' on TV wearin' my flipflops
We don't need no relationship doc
Just leave us alone; this has gone over the top

VERSE
Now fightin' in the yard; lots of shovin' around
Holdin' my own 'til you pushed me to the ground
Here come the cops, and they're just in time
I was headin' for the place I keep my millimeter nine, yeah

Repeat CHORUS

RIDE

Now six packs and you aren't a good mix
By the time you were through, there was nothing to fix
Now you gotta know we're through with your kicks
So get on down the road, man; hit the bricks, yeah

BRIDGE
We've been through this way too many times
It's time for you to go; leave it all behind
