BENNY JAMMIN

Story Behind The Song

The setting is a cabinet shop. The present boss is the narrow minded type that uses the term or cliche',"I run a tight ship" and everyone respects him, accordingly, NOT!!. (Too many years in the military). As long as his paycheck is ample ,and it is, He does'nt get invloved helping those who work so hard for him. Now the owner of the company has the philosophy, every dime I give you is one less in my pocket. And he likes his dimes. Any way,now a new boss comes in and the first thing he does is give just about everbody,( a long over do increase in thier pay. Also the atmosphere becomes more relaxed and the crew is smiling a little more, stressing a little less, and guess what, they work a little harder for this guy, not because he bought them but because of his sincerety. I thought that he deserved a little recognition. His name is Benjamin, and while kidding around he got nick named Benny Jammin. I,David C Perreault, was one of those workers.

Lyrics

We all have to work
It's a fate you can't escape
But it does not have to be a living hell
The boss man thinks he must control
He runs his ship so tight
I never new a man
could be so wrong
And think he's right
CHORUS
Then came Benny,Benny-Jammin,Benjamin My friend
Repeat 3x
REFRAIN
He's a man who understands
And he lives by the Golden Rule
He treats us all like friends
And you'll want to be his friend too
He fights for fairness,
He has heart but he's nobody's
Fool
See the Company Head
He likes the big "Profit Margin"
But he needs to see
The working man
Is his foundation
We give the best we can
But we need fair compensation
He tries to keep us down
So we won't rise
above our station
CHORUS
REFRAIN
We work from sun to sun
So much of our lives
We don't control
When your time has come
You can't afford
To dig a hole
So all you can afford
Is a big tin can
For your ashes
If that's all we're working for
Then they can kiss
All our asses
CHORUS
REFRAIN
