Story Behind The Song
I participate in international on-line singing tuition classes and this song was suggested as one to demonstrate our "own style". I pictured an older man reminiscing in a Skooby-Dooesque haunted house and this became the second example of my vocals that we thought worth sharing. The tik-tok is reminiscent of Dark Side of the Moon because it is the same synth patch, not a sample. There is one subconscious lyric change which I found intriguing so left it in. The internet speaks: According to Tom DeLonge - "The song's more about the vulnerability and kind of heart-wrenching pain you feel when you're in love and when you're a guy and you're trying to tell a girl, 'Don't waste your time coming and talking to me because, in my head at least, you probably already gave me up a long time ago.'"
And the line about Jack and Sally was a reference to The Nightmare Before Christmas that was put in there at the request of Travis Barker for his wife of the time.
