I wrote 'long way home' during the pandemic when I was yearning to leave my house, travel, and see other people. The song is a fantasy about getting together with my friends, doing our favorite things, and driving down all the roads we've never seen before."

A dreamy, ethereal ballad, "Long Way Home" was written during the pandemic lockdowns, when a carefree afternoon with friends was out of reach. Instead of feeling despondent, Della Pietra turned her attention to her songwriting, conjuring up an uplifting fantasy about an idyllic afternoon - a long drive with the windows down, surrounded by friends, great music, and blue skies.
