Sima Fisher has many creative outlets which have helped develop her to be the artist that she is. These creative outlets include painting, songwriting, poetry writing and acting.
Sima grew up in a small town with four brothers and four sisters. Being the oldest Sima had many responsibilities which made her the hard working and ambitious woman that she is today. Sima is English /Irish decent and grew up in a small town outside of Toronto, Canada.
As a child Sima sang songs in the bathtub and performed in several choirs in her school including the specialty choir called the “Choldy Choir”. There is where she learned that she had a voice. Sima continued to sing and perform in high school. Sima and her sister used to go to their father’s house on the weekend and compose songs on a tape recorder that their father provided for them. Her father also introduced Sima to the Rolling Stones, The Cars, The Doors, The Beatles and Brian Adams, by the time she was 12 years old Sima knew all the lyrics to every song they wrote. Sima was good at picking up lyrics in songs and dance moves that she saw. She later began doing her own dance moves and starting a trends in her highshool.
Sima has done extensive voice training for three years and has trained as an accordion player since the age of seven. Although Sima does not use the accordion in her modern style music, she uses the experience of her music reading skills and keys training and applies it to her song writing. Sima is skilled at writing lyrics and melodies and works with several producers to develop her songs and compositions.
When Sima was 19 she started singing in bars and clubs in Sarnia, Ontario and has since sang in Melbourne, Australia, clubs in LA, Toronto and London, Revival in Toronto and The hard Rock Café in Toronto. Sima was a part of the “Perr Project” where she performed in clubs around Canada and the USA. Sima is currently in the process of developing a live performance with her own music with one of her co-writer’s Alex Franco.
Sima tried out different styles of music with different producers to get a feel of what she enjoyed and what worked well for her as a performer, such as Tim Fray, who was more R&B. Then she did a song with Robert Strauss who is connected with more of a Euro style dance pop. They did the song called “Set me Free”. She worked with Shikari Nyte from Big Black Lincoln where they produced two songs together. She worked with several other producers such as Pete Prolesnik to get a feel of what studio recording was like.
Sima finally came to Alex in 2004 and the musical chemistry seemed to flow between them. They are currently finishing Sima’s album “Set Me Free”. Sima worked with Ian Halperin, the writer of Who Killed Kurt Cobain by composing and performing the songs “Taking Me Over” and Hollywood in his new movies His Hynus Halperin. It is set for Major Release at the end of summer 2005.
Sima has a fan base through her website, www.simafisher.com, and through promotions on linked sites such as CDBaby.com. She is also rehearsing to perform in night clubs in Toronto. Her album is currently for sale at cdbaby.com which promotes independent artists. Sima has radio station DJ’s and club DJ’s such as Freeway Frank from mix 99.9 and Dezrok a New York DJ interested in her music. Sima continues to work with Alex Franco which she has a strong creative connection with.
Sima Continues to grow as an artist by song writing and developing her demo into a stronger sounding work of art. She gets much of her inspiration from painting and from natural surroundings. Sometimes Sima will sit in a forest or by the ocean for hours and come up with songs about how she feels. She is a very sensitive person which helps her to come up with human emotion and makes her a true artist. Sima meditates and “digs deep” into her soul for emotions and to pull out the artistic lyrical combinations to put into her songs.
