Bio Richard Gatling

Richard Gatling, born in Manhattan New York City moved with his parents to the Netherlands in the early 70s'. His father managed to get records and tapes from N.Y.C. top radio stations like 98.7 kiss FM and 107.5 WBLS with Djs' like Frankie Knuckles and Tony Humphries. The skills of these two men with their new style, inspired Richard and at the age of 14 he was buying his first records. In the early eighties his parents opened a club where Richard started working behind the decks.
April 1984 Richard went back to New York. His brother introduced him to a friend, who was already spinning at several locations and together they rocked the city throughout the summer. On his nights off, Richard visited the local clubs such as Visage, 1018, The Garage, Bentleys, The Red Parrot. He became more and more attracted to the New York dance sound. In '86 he started working at the Red Parrot and at block party's, weddings and one off party's at places like the Marriot and Terrace On The Green.
Richard Gatling has been dj'ing global the past years and is now enjoying family life. Richard Gatling has spinned records with guys like, Carl Craig, CJ Mackintosh, Graeme Park, Danny Rampling, Pippi, Cesar Del Rio, Alfredo, Claudio Cocolutto, Tony Humphries, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, George Morel, Derrick May, Jean, Dimitri, Marcello and many more. Richard Gatling has been dj'ing in clubs and parties such as Ministry of Sound, Heaven, Hard Times, Spiral Tribe, Bar Rumba, La Rocca, Ku, Privilege, Pacha, Mambo, KM, Penelope, Red Parrot, Tavern on the Green, 1018, The Tunnel, It, Roxy and many more. Richard Gatling still play every now and then, but that's no more on a regular basis. Richard Gatling has produced records on North Coast Records and Quality Beat Records.
Aside from his production work he is still dj-ing, and his desire to make people dance still dominates every one of his sets and is a melting pot of new and classic dance music, while keeping his performances soulful.
