Purple Melon Bio
In 2005 Tom Hill dropped out of college to write songs. When his friend, Eric Joyce, was expelled from the same school they decided to form a band "Purple Melon".
During the next two years they changed their guitarist and drummer twice and sacked their keyboard player completely. They now feel they have the perfect line up.
Tom Hill (21) Lead vocals, guitar and keyboards
Eric Joyce (20) Bass and backing vocals
Owen Barry (24) Guitar and backing vocals
Jason Ganberg (21) Drums
Early in 2006 they met three student filmmakers and together they came up with the idea of filming the bands journey. Their teaser snippets of the footage of their story can be viewed on Vuze, MySpace, You Tube and their website www.purplemelon.co.uk
In 2007, Purple Melon was living in London and Tom discovered The Troubadour Club. The Troubadour was perfect for Purple Melon. Bohemian, laid-back, classily cool and with an impressive legacy, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan had all gigged there.
In 2008, Purple Melon went into the studio with Paul Stacey (Black Crowes, Oasis). They spent the next year recording their first Album "Henrys Rocket".
In March 2009, Purple Melon left London and headed for Los Angeles to play the clubs and bars throughout Hollywood. Purple Melon's life in LA has become a hedonistic life style of gigging, sun and vodka!
In June 2009, Paul Stacey turned up in LA with the final mastered Album. After a year of working on their album the band are now working on the release.
