Currently based in the Pacific Northwest, Pamela Mortensen has had a colorful career as a performer, composer and music instructor. Her musical journey has taken her through the worlds of classical, blues and jazz, ambient electronic and world music realms, exploring them through a variety of instruments.
Her musical journey began at the age of six, first, playing the organ and later on adding piano, didgeridoo, synthesizer, Native American style flute and singing. She developed an interest in film music while growing up and at the age of 17, began composing her own works. She studied classical music composition at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington where she graduated cum laude. Among the awards she has won are two Seattle Artists Awards from the Seattle Arts Commission for composition, ASCAP Artist Award and Yamaha AW16g Recording Competition in the world music category.
