Matt Starling founded the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble in 2009. He has recorded performances of minimalist scores by American composer Terry Riley, and regularly composes and produces music in minimal, ambient, and orchestral styles. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Utah, and a Master of Music Technology degree from IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN. He is active as a producer, performer, composer, multimedia artist, music journalist, music educator, and audio engineer. Performances have been commissioned by the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, the Utah Arts Festival, Brigham Young University, and the University of Utah.
