Lioness aka Lady Sphinx was born in 1983 in Pittsburgh, PA to a single mother. Being an army brat brought her to many different parts of the world and shaped her outlook on life. She was introduced to Hip-Hop at a young age. The first rap song she heard was Rob Base's "It Takes Two" and she was hooked. Her uncle put her on to Run DMC, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Tribe Called Quest, LONS and others. She used to stay up late as a kid and watch Yo! MTV Raps and memorize the songs. Lioness comes from a very musical family with an uncle in the legendary Pittsburgh rap group The Sinisters of Sound. She also has numerous cousins that rap and many singers in her family. "Ever since I can remember I knew I could rap. I started seriously writing when I was 10 and haven't stopped since. I've loved hip-hop since the first time I heard Rob Base say I wanna rock right now. I live and breathe this and now it's time to show and prove."
