Kristin Lee
sings with a style and repertoire that reveals her love of the American Standards from the 1910s through the 1960s. Latin music, Gypsy Jazz and International Hits add to her versatility.
Kristin Lee was influenced by listening to the 'pop music' of the 40s & 50s that her parents loved, including the Latin hits. After singing with choirs at school, she was invited to join the Los Angeles Bach Choir in 1990 & sang with this group for eleven years.
Kristin fell in love with jazz by listening to KJAZZ, and she trained with the great jazz singer, Julie Kelly. European tours began in 2005, with her first CD recorded in 2006 in France with Philippe Gallet, Christian Matarazzi & Pierre Le Van. There she became more interested in vintage European music and Gypsy Jazz.
Kristin's style reflects her favorite singers of the Big Band era: Julie London, Doris Day, Joe Williams and Nat King Cole. Much of her repertoire comes from 'The Great American Songbook', written by such musical history greats as Cole Porter, Peggy Lee and Antonio Jobim.
Recently she performed at the Festival de l'Estaque in the south of France, and the Four Seasons Biltmore & Crowne Plaza Hotel in California.
Kristin's repertoire is as versatile as the size of her group, which can range from a piano or guitar accompanist, to adding acoustic bass, drums and brass, depending upon your event.
