Hi! I am a singer songwriter living in North Carolina. I am also a founding member and currently playing with The Lone Derangers (www.myspace.com/thelonederangers). Additionally I have thejaylichtyband.com. The Jay Lichty Band has been on hiatus for a few months which has left me writing and recording by myself. The songs posted on this site for the most part are the results of that. I've recenty, by request, added some of the songs off of "It's a Dog's Life". I hope you enjoy.

The Jay Lichty Band

Although raised by a pack of wild (but really sweet) monkeys in southern Florida, Jay survived and eventually escaped to North Carolina where he fell into a heaping helping of Blue Grass. A rebel by nature, Jay dismayed most of the purists he encountered and could soon be heard shifting his bluegrass banjo licks into Jimi Hendrix riffs on the banjo. And that was before he found the electric banjo. Picking up mandolin along the way and always keeping a dabbling of acoustic guitar hidden in the closet, Jay has, until the forming of this band (The Jay Lichty Band), been sharpening his skills backing up other folks (Americana bands Cat's Eye Blue and The Lone Derangers) with their music. Now that the tides have shifted and winds are blowing in support of this new adventure, the guitars have come out of the closet and those songs that were so carefully stored away are what make up the repertoire of The Jay Lichty Band.
