August 2009 bio
Ex Norwegian is an indie rock band from Miami, FL with Roger Houdaille (vocals and guitar), Carolina Souto (bass guitar and vocals), and Arturo Garcia (drums and vocals).
Ex Norwegian participated in the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City mere months after their formation, and released two singles: the irresistible Shins-styled folk-pop "Something Unreal" and "Dance Trance Pants" on a 7? which falls neatly somewhere in between The Killers and 70s glam epitomized by bands like T. Rex. The enthusiastic response to these singles was accompanied by numerous live performances on the East Coast, in addition to appearances on European TV network Sky News. The group's youthful energy and sound described as an "...eclectic mix of powerpop, shoegaze, indie rock, and even hints of stoner rock" by Exploding In Sound. Ex Norwegian was also singled out as "...the next big indie thing," by Revue West Michigan.
The debut album, Standby, was released nationally on May 19th on their own Dying Van Gogh label. The band and album has attracted a lot of attention and support from the press, with exposure in Boston Globe, Miami Herald, and countless blogs and publications. They continue to build their fan base through touring, the Internet and making great music.
