CONCHIS
Swedish indie band CONCHIS was originally formed as a three-piece back in the winter of 2005-06. Lead vocalist and guitarist Andreas Marmbrandt joined up with Mikael Malmaeus on the bass and Robert Andersson on the drums. Right from the start they all felt that this might work out very well indeed: they had the material, the melodies and the talent! In time a fourth member joined the band. Jonas Käll took over the role of bass player from Mikael, who switched to playing the guitar instead.
All of CONCHIS’ material is written by front-man Andreas Marmbrandt. The vocal melodies are always prioritised and focused upon. When needed, the music takes a step back, leaving room for the vocals. In all honesty, Andreas' voice is in a class of its own and as French Web-fanzine Sucrepop wrote in March -07, “Cette voix devrait faire quelques ravages dans la gente feminine,” which roughly translates into “This Voice has the potential of winning many hearts within the female gender.” Flattering, but nonetheless true.
All in all, CONCHIS has good songs with strong, catchy melodies, as well as poetic and beautiful lyrics. And they deliver all of this in a very convincing and artistic manner.
