Matt, There's not much worse than worrying about a child who is going through that phase. It IS a phase. I've been through it with mine. "Bring them up in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it." I can see the reasons you wanted to re-do the song and I like both versions. The one you sing is so personal that it makes up for the lack of "song style". Great to see that you're still working on your craft.
Hey Tom! Thank you for your words. It is a hard time and we are still in it (you can imagine). But I love her and we are working it out. More than anything, I pray that God protects her. So, I am hoping the song realtes a little better than the original. Thank you for your comments, the original is sung by David Spires, of Nashville Song Demos--he is an amazing vocalist. I was told teh original had a "great" idea, but that it could be much better. So I went to work and glad I did. The original seems to languish, it needs to go somewhere in the chorus, etc. That's what I tried to do--I am learning. The original is still dear to me, though. Thanks again for sharing your dad's heart and Spiritual encouragement. Matt
Thanks for your kind review of "Why Did You Leave Me Number One Song " :)
Laura, Thanks for your review of Young Love. You are absolutely correct about the disconnect between the 1st verse and the "Young Love refrain. We are cutting the song in Nashville next week and have already addressed that issue. Very sharp focus on your part to pick that up. Many folks don't. Thanks again and God bless, Tom Brenner
God bless you with your endeavours in Nashville. Hope to hear the new recording of the song when it's completed.
Hi, you asked me earlier about composing melodies for lyrics. I'm presently handling all I can with my own songs. I have three that I'll demo in the next few weeks and about 30 that are in different stages of development. Regards, Tom Brenner
Thanks for your kind review of our song "It That a Yes?" we appreciate your kind comments. Thanks Terry and kenny
Tom: Thanks for the positive review (Analog Cowboy). My friend, Dale Major, actually wrote the song. I recorded it at home on a digital workstation. If you've got about 4 minutes, check out the video on YouTube (Analog Cowboy).
Thank you for your encouraging review. Your input about "wouldn't understand" is precise. My artist recorded the EP with Tim McGraws band at great expense so getting a new cut is presently unlikely. The song is in play for a Truck commercial.
I figured as much because of the quality of the cut. I love the song and, of course, I could be completely wrong. Seems like I remember that happenin once or twice before.
Do you have interst in composing melody for lyrics?
Thanks for your nice, albeit brief review of my song Rodeo Man.!
Hey Tom, thanks for the review of my song (Haley) I appreciate your time and comments. JJ
Terry, thanks for the review of "Young Love". I agree with you about the dynamics into the bridge. But, it was done for $200 so I can't complain. I like your music, man. Tom Brenner
Thanks for the like
Tom, Thanks for the review of You Call it Love. Interesting comment about broadening the story, but as a writer, I think the listener gets the picture of what's going on with these two people. They meet, their hot to trot and don't consider anything else. Obviously, it ain't love. I've witnessed similar scenes from the stage over many years of performing in clubs. Musically, I was after a Leonard Cohen feel. Glad you thought it was unique.
Matthew, I just got your message about my review of your song She's On Her Own. I listened to your other music just now, also. Your ideas are good but it's your sincerity that jumps out and grabs me. It's powerful. If I can help you with technical aspects of songwriting, phrasing, accenting etc. just let me know. God gave us all gifts and in sharing, they are multiplied.
Much appreciated and very kind of you. I'll take you up on that! Thanks Tom!
Tom, thaks for your constructive and useful review of my song "She's On Her Own". One of my first and I am quite new to this. I learn a lot from such reviews. I am also able to understand your comments and agree. VeryHelpful! Thanks again! Matt
