Red Rock Hill, You Paint The Picture Well In "Dodson" ... Love The Lyric Albeit Not Singing About Sunnybrook Farm ... Raw & Real. ... Great Work / Production ... Best Wishes For Wherever Life & The Music May Lead You ... J Nelson K
Thanks so much for the kind words, J! I love Dodson; Jay captured both a town and my uncle's life in the song. Bob Fillpot was an architect, he designed the Enron building and two other skyscrapers in Houston. In March, he died in Asheville, NC. It was fun to stop by and listen to your music, as well -- you must inspire many with your messages. Thank you again for taking time to send a note. -- Elise
How is your winter going, Peter?? Sounds like you've been creating! I've been back to training horses since October, but will start a professional job again on the 25th. We're playing out a bit, but I haven't taken time to book gigs in a while. Love your album cover!!! xxxooo, E
THX, Elise: although training horses sounds professional to me, wish you best upon the 25th. meantime, hope you guys keep playing cuz your music is so very special. and, thanks for all the hugs
I know, right?? It's hard to get the consistency of lessons and enough horses in training to make income to buy health insurance and pay the girl's college bills.
But I'd love if the horses could keep us afloat in the manner to which I like to be accustomed. : )
uh oh - where's my boots and shovel. . .
(referring to mucking the stalls - lol)
Really like your sound, Joe. Thanks for the songs.
Listened to a few of your songs, Eric...great vocals and lovely production. Shared your site with my daughter at Davidson College... Best wishes for the holiday!
hey
Fireflies...beautiful!!
Just found "What You're Looking For"... utterly beautiful... will hit play again...and again...when it concludes. In this moment in life when I am unemployed and just took my girl to college for the first time, it's what i needed to hear. and here it was. thank you.
Jeeese Red Rock Hill, I just saw this. Talk about humbling to hear. I TRULY appreciate your comments. I am sorry to hear you are unemployed. Hopefully that changes quick. Also, I have three daughters, 12years and almost 11yrs. Twins). Can't imagine that day they head out. Hope all is well with that transition. The co-writer of "WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR" is friend Dan Lavery of the band TONIC. I will let him know your thoughts. Thanks again! All the best. Michael Brandmeier
Congrats on leading ahead of me on the No Repeats can! Remember, your songs are Stellar and need to be heard! Shine On! - N
Thanks, Nick -- we feel just the same about your music. Were just talking about how brilliant your songwriting is again this morning. Six Pack is most festive when taken lightly for what it is...Last year we enjoyed two weeks of glory and then philosophically accepted the plummet to the depths. : )
Hey guys ... just want to say ... Rock On and great job on KUNI the other night! :)
Thanks, Ric!!!
I absolutely love your music!
Hi Roy, I just posted the songs from the KUNI show. You've heard most of 'em, but our cover of Uncle Tupelo's Still be Around is on there. You might enjoy...http://www.broadjam.com/player/player.php?hosting=1&play_file=82346_579528 1
RRH, Thanks for this. I will listen asap. Thanks for this!!!!.....Roy
Thanks so much for the support, DiD Rhuu!!! Broadjam is a rare and wonderful community...we're so fortunate to be part of it with you...
We're family. Sometimes we'll fight but it won't change the fact that we're one. So, we just have to learn to get along!
"won't change the fact that we're one"...if only all the world knew this...
The world would be a wonderful place!
Great cover of "Long Black Veil", and "Low" is very nice too. Good luck on that radio show!
Thanks so much, Ian!
HI Roy, Mark Simmett has invited us to play a live On-Air performance for his Night Music show on Iowa Public Radio! We head up to the KUNI studios in Cedar Falls to play the show on August 8th. And a little nervous, too. All good! : )
CONGRATZ to one of my favorite groups on BJAM!
You're very dear, Peter! xoxoxoxo Hey -- we'll be in Asheville next month. My girl starts school at Davidson; it will be a festive but poignant road trip to bring her down. Since I have family in Asheville, it will be our staging point for orientation. If you're in the area between the 15th and 24th, let's rendezvous!
guess what. from Asheville, you take I40 East to I77 South to Davidson. Asheville is about 75 miles (less than 90 minutes) from my perch on top of Sugar Mountain. I40 is part of the route you take. It will be my treat, BBQ at 5000 ft, a 75 mile view and maybe some homespun music. if your schedule permits, are you interested?
Oh my goodness, Peter...sounds like a wonderful treat! Thanks so much for the invitation! I'll send my number via a private note so we can connect and coordinate schedules...!
You guys should definitely write together. I am looking forward to the outcome.
: )
ever get the feeling somebody's watching us - LOL!
@Elise & Crew: will watch for your note. . .
I sent through your website email, Peter : )
Congratulations guys. Go to do it for all of us!
I listened to all of your material here on the Iowa Top 10. Wow! Great music. Alan
Thanks so much, Alan! (Apologies for the late reply...I've been barnsitting for a friend and not on the internet other than work.)
Hi Roy, Love the categories for the 2012 6-Pack. Given the nature of Jack of All Trades and No Repeats, No Repeats, will raters be required to listen to the entire songs in those categories? Very excited for a great summer of songs in the 6-Pack... Elise
Elise, Thanks for this. I think is the best category selection we have had to date. Certainly the most challenging. I am excited to hear the submissions. Listening and reviewing 6-Pack submissions is one of my favorite things to do on Broadjam....We haven't changed the review requirement. Generally, most reviewers do listen and review fairly. However, there are a few who don't and we respond appropriately....Best, Roy
Woke up to great news today one of my song's has been selected for representation. Look forward to the future success. more music coming soon. new tracks will be uploaded soon. hope everyone is having a great day...
well done and all the best...
That's excellent news Congratulations!!! which song?

So excited for the 2012 6-Pack competition...can't wait to start listening!! Sending a shout out to everyone making music and sharing it here on Broadjam!

\ O / Arms of Yay! xoxoxo, Lori...
TY TY TY Thank You! Hope we get to meet this Summer? Lori
Red Hill Rockers. Big Bang would make a great Rock-Psychedelic tune if you do an electric version with a few Moans in it! Damn fine tune! It smokes, man! - N
I've been reviewing for the 6-pack the past couple of days and I'm overwhelmed by having to choose between some of the songs. People are writing beautifully about the most essential experiences...it's incredibly poignant; an honor to listen to their stories and how they tell them in music and lyrics. I wish I could apologize to some I've given 2's...it's so hard to rank order when two or more feel like such tremendous gifts. I'm hoping I can find some of them again after the contest ends. This has been a very special experience...
RRH, Thanks for your note. Like you, I am a little overwhelmed at the quantity and quality of submissions this year. It's been a banner year for great songs in the 6-Pack. Thanks for reviewing and the champion will be crowned in a few weeks....Best, Roy
God Bless Red Rock Hill, their families and friends. You are a treasure for the ears. And, for that simple act of your sharing, I return the THANKS for the Giving. as always - pgo
: ) !!!
Hey Alex, Sending warm wishes for an American holiday... Thanksgiving... I'm thankful I met you and your music! Elise
Thank you so much for warm sentiment. Have a great holiday, Elise
*your.... It's early a.m. here in Australia
Sending warm wishes for the holiday, Wednesday...although it's not so much a Canadian tradition, ay? : D Nevertheless, thankful I heard your music and we had the chance to meet here... Elise
Red...we have our Thanksgiving in October :D. It's more to do with harvest, but, whatever, taking your words of thankfullness and adding 'ditto' to them :D. Thanks!
Sending warm wishes for Thanksgiving, Lori! Elise
Thank you my new connection...wonderful to meet you. Would love to Rock witchu all soon! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you too...Thank you Elise! Sincerely, Lori
Warm wishes for a beatufiful Thanksgiving! What part of NC are you in? Most of my family is in Asheville... Elise
Elise - warmest wishes back to you and yours. living atop Sugar Mtn about 75 miles east of Asheville. God's Country and we can prove it cuz the Blue Ridge is made from the oldest mountain range on this here planet. as always - pgo
Absolutely. Will you let me know when you next play in Asheville? My folks and brother and aunt would love to hear your music.
my desire is to play "live" again and Asheville is a definite target. would please me to no end to meet your family. thank you!
You and I have taken over the Iowa Top 10 Charts! Wow...way to go guys! :) Lori
Very festive! : ) We've got to click over there and check it ou! Are in Des moines, Lori??
HI Roy, We came very late to the 6-pack party -- as in, today! : ) If folks like our songs (and they may not!) do we have any chance of moving up in the rankings, or are we too far behind time-wise to receive enough reviews? Fun to be part of it, either way! Thanks much, Elise
Elise, Thanks for your note and the good question. Every song receives approximately the same number of reviews at the end of the 6-Pack. So, late entries get more reviews than earlier entries. Once all songs have the same number of reviews, then the earlier entries are put back into the review rotation. You can enter up until the last submission date as we keep the review process open for at least a week after the submissions close.....Hope this helps and welcome aboard.....Roy
Right on, Roy! We'll be surprised if we appeal to many folks, but will be fun to see! All best wishes, Elise
Hey Brian, Jay just listened to your fishing collection...Fun! He wondered if you'd heard Robert Earl Keen's 5 lb bass...? Happy saturday! Elise
Keep the Fine Line: Excellent! Come join me (a man of good reputation) but that is only one side. If Lou Reed had Heroin, I would join him in the gutter! (My Dementos have been called the new Velvet Underground) Love your sound, so I'm sending you a Friendly Handshake!
So festive that you connected with Fine Line...I love it, too : ) Jay'll really appreciate the good words, Nick...and love that you "get" it...
and there's another connection...when we play out, we do a medley that starts with Walk on the Wild Side and morphs into Friend of the Devil
Your voice is a great, great, treat, Alex...you have a beautiful quality like Peter Gabriel...so glad i found your songs thanks to the top ten chart!
Thank you so much. Your comments are kind, encouraging, inspiring and much appreciated
Love, love, love Wish Away the Storms...
Having a blast with the Top Ten lists, Roy...BJ has so many festive ways to share music! You've given us all a great gift with this site...
RRH....Thanks for the nice note. I'm not sure who has more fun with this, you or me. LOL. I am currently listening to some great modern jazz that wouldn't hear anywhere else in the world....It truly is a gift to hear all this great stuff over and over.....Best, Roy
