Hey Scott! Thanks for the review of the my song, "The Last Riders On Route 66"! Much appreciated it. Back in 1967, during Spring Break, my buddy, Pete Reiter, and I threw caution to the wind and hitch-hiked from Oklahoma City to Laurel Canyon to Huntington Beach to Santa Monica and back to Oklahoma City in April over a 2 week period. WHAT AN ADVENTURE and tale. In fact, I got my first first big break as a solo act, when a club owner discovered me playing on the beach and invited me to come and play at his club across from the beach, where I opened for "Ian and Sylvia" for 2 nights. He paid me $50 for 2 shows per night and I could pass the hat and take home the tips. I paid for the trip from those two nights. Anyway, the story stayed with me as a couple years later I embarked on a solo-recording and touring career that took me all over the country for 14 and was especially used by access to Route 66. When I moved over to the film business and started writing scripts, I vowed to write the story of our Route 66 adventure....where it depicts my first leg of the journey riding with a friend who took me from Chicago to Oklahoma City where I attended Oklahoma City University my first year. So, I began writing a novel about my journey and named it, "The Last Riders On Route 66". It is now in in it's 4th pressing. You can get it at Amazon. The NEXT YEAR, the follow-up song, "The Mother Road", also won the Grand Prize. https://chetnichols.net/track/40055 85/the-mother-road-ts-band Anyway, I laughed when I saw you and done the trip too.... Hope you are well.... Chester PS ODDLY enough I have a 2nd meeting with a film producer who is interested with the story.....TODAY....
Wow hey that's a great story my friend. All I got was kicked of the beach at Laguna for sleeping. haha Long story short I ended up hitchhiking for the next two years and went coast to coast and had some amazing adventures. Great news about the film project I hope it goes well and I'll watch the movie when it comes out. Great song btw. Scott
There is a great line about hitch-hiking in my song, "The Waving Prairie".......Having done it. I picked up my fair share.....Once picked up a hitch-hiking, blonde model and her Congo drum out on the middle of the New Mexican desert. She was stunning and going to New York from LA. I really don't think she was human. Took her to Kansas and she stayed a couple AMAZING days and then....I woke up and she was gone...in the middle of the night.......Pooof. Best. Chet
Hey another great story Chet, someday I'll have to tell you the story of how I lost my boots in the back of a hookers Cadillac just outside of Reno. haha I had to go bear foot until I got to Yellowstone. So many great memories form the road. Take care. Scott
Thank you for the kind reviews of Take Me and Old Man.
You're welcome Marc. You write good music. Scott/Ravensong
Hey guys thanks so much for the stars on my song "The Devils on the Loose" greatly appreciated my friends.
Great work Raven! LC Team
"Nature of the Game" Wow! All three of you need to take a bow on that one my friends. That's epic and I really mean that, very impressive indeed. The vocals on this one are totally on point, great tenor in the voice. Masterful.
Thank you many times over, my friend! I really like Bob's raspy everyman vocals...right on target. I woke up one morning last month with the beginning measures of that tune. I knew it was quite the earworm so I rushed to my computer to take down the notes. I had a small part of it recorded in a couple of hours and sent it right off to Bob and Robert.
Hey Scott Nice job on the devil's on the loose! I especially LOVE the lyrics. High quality writing sir! Cheers Warren
Hey thank you so much Warren, I really didn't want a linier story line so I just let the words flow. haha The lyrics were the fun part. Hope your world travels are going well my friend. Scott
Scott, "Devil's on the Loose" is great! Beginning with a Metallica influenced melody line and angry riffs, it goes into a chorus that is an earworm that won't quit! Great melodic hook! As I've said, you have an ear for catchy tunes. It's like Metallica and Deep Purple got together with a classic gloomy hard metal sound. Lyrics really compliment the tune and are expertly written. In fact, I'm thinking "wow, if I could write lyrics like that!" We know exactly what you're talking about! It's poetry with grit and bite. Hats off to you, my friend!
Hey John wow I'm so happy you like it. It was a real bear to write haha I almost scraped it a few times but I'm glad I didn't. I had written a couple of pages of lyrics but they really just weren't cutting so I cleared my mind and just wrote what I felt and have been feeling for a long time now. Thanks again my friend it felt good to write something again. Crazy world Scott

Hey Jeana thanks for the play list add. I've been trying to remember the name of the song you played for the group awhile back as I recall you were not sure what you were going to name it. Any way I love it and want to add to my play list. Hope things are well with you and the family, take care. Scott
Hi Scott-- You are welcome. Thanks also for the stars for "Spring Birds". I appreciate it! The song I shared with the group is "All Is Well". John convinced me that I could name it that, even though I know there are other songs out there with the same name. Things are well with me and my family, hope the same for you. Jeana P
Cool, thanks Jeana.
Hey Warren, I just heard about your placement. Congrats my friend, well deserved.
Thanks Scott-it was a while back but we're alive! LOL...stay safe my friend! W
Had a good one this week! Hampus from London came across my old record "My Head's in a Good Place" from my old Crybaby Band and wants a copy to give to his DJ friends and play it on his radio show! London! Ha! Google it!
Great news Pat.
Hey Pat thanks for the positive and very useful review of "I can play the blues forever" I keep hearing a great blues harp in this one but lack the skills to do it myself but that just might be the break that you were talking about. Thanks again and keep on jammin my friend. Scott
Thanks Scott! It's great that we musicians can offer a different angle on some things. I've been blissfully helped by things I've learned by others that have helped my music prosper. This is one of the best things about BJ and continues to one of the coolest adventures around! Take care and Let the Music flow like a River! catnip=+=
Hey Ravenscott, Thanks for the 5-stars for my instrumental version of my song, "I Come From Chicago".....and I DO! There is a version with lyrics and vocals, which I think you will like, as it has a unique lyrical path it takes. Of course, like you, I play all the parts....etc. I wrote that song in 1966 and it has gone thru numerous versions. You will also like, "Ice Cream Man", too.... I wrote it in 1963....so I was way ahead of a bunch of other imitators. Tom Waitts heard me play it at a show in Boston when I was on a solo-tour in the mid 60's and wanted to change a couple words and become a co-writer. I said, "Ahhhh, naw". So, I inspired his version. Here is the like at Broadjam: https://www.broadjam.com/songs/chet nichols/ice-cream-man Keep on plucking: Uncle Chesty
You got it Chet! You definitely know how to write some great music and I love your blues, you have what I call the real feel for it. I will be checking out those songs you mentioned for sure. Keep the hits coming my friend. Scott

Hey Warren thanks so much! Sometimes I think that's all I have left. All the best to you.
Ditto baby!
Great song and great mood, my friend! When you write blues rock it could easily fit in a Neil Young catalogue. Your tunes are strong and memorable. Terrific production on this one. The guitars and keyboards really come through clean. John
Thanks so much John. It's not as sad as I thought it would be but I sure felt sad writing it.
Lots of times it's the melody that contains the sadness. The melody sets the mood and fills the spaces between the words to make the song whole. You understand melody and know how to write it. It makes your songs stand out. Last week was very dark. We went back more than a hundred years.
Thanks again John for kind words. I tried some lead guitar but it just spoiled the melody.
Hey thanks so much for stopping by and listening, greatly appreciated as are the stars. All the best to you. Ravensong
Hey John thanks so much for the stars on "Couger" It's an old one of mine but I never recorded it outside of the band I was in at the time. Thanks again my friend. Scott
You're much welcome! Your songwriting has always been great and it has also grown with you life's experiences. You put forth real life and real feelings and that's what sets the true artist apart from the rest. Yep, I have several old ones that have finally made an appearance recently, too.
Hey guys thanks so much for the stars on "Couger" and the endorsements. Always appreciate you stopping by for a listen. Thanks again. Scott/Ravensong
Most definitely welcome Scott! LC Team
