Love This Song!
greetings from the pacificcoast
Hey Lansig! It's been a while. How have you been? I miss hearing your songs in the 6-pack, but I came back to enjoy your music again! Best of luck in your endeavors my friend!
Hi Nat Thanks for your consideration! I've been busy full time with my real job (website design). Too bad we have to make money sometime! I don't think I will participate to this year's 6-pack. Nothing new in music. Best of luck to you too!
CRAZY!! Just found out that my song Life's Passage was the #1 instrumental category winner for 2012 in the Song Of The Year contest! What an honor to have a song selected like that! http://www.songoftheyear.com/winners_2012d.htm 1 Aside from the prize the song with my bio will be sent on to top music supervisors and industry reps. Pretty excited to find out what might be behind door #487 :)! I'll keep everyone posted with the news!
hey buddy, major congrats!!
Major CONGRATZ indeed!
way to go Nat!
Nice!
Thanks everyone! :D
Wow! Congrats Nathan!
Thanks Lansig! It was quite a surprise.... a very pleasant one :)!
So, quick update on the searchlight contest. First off, a huge thanks to everyone who showed their support. It meant a lot to have so many of you voting and writing to me about the contest.. I didn't make the top 5 but I'm pretty sure it wasn't on the merit of the song :)! It was a popularity contest and he who has the biggest fan base is he who progresses! We'll get em next time :)!
Pfffft... they don't get it. Bigger and better things are on the way!
You're right on! Nathan! That's why I don't put to much effort in thise type of contest. It doesn't really give insight of the true value of the songs. It become a matter of fanbase or follow up! I rellay prefer contest where the value of the song is evaluated by professionals or at least by musicians. The Broadjam's 6-pack is a model in this field with it's blind vote.
Absolutely right there Lansig! Thanks for the comments guys!
screw 'em...xoxo
haha - consider them screwed :D!
Sorrow a beautiful track, Gordon! Nice work!
thank you, coming from you that means a lot. this is the first classical guitar type piece i have recorded. i am going to need to record it in my main studio so you don'y hear computer noise and hum in the track. peace, G
Congrats Gordon! You play with emotion... Keep composing in this genre ;-)
I really like the groove and your arpegios colors. Very entertaining!
Thank you very much - I listened to your music - great guitar playing Regards Hartmut
I'm really glad you, guys at Broadjam put the Steinberg results on line! Very interesting to surf and listen to some music of this very nice color palette!
It's so cold outside here (-25). Best time for composing...
hi, i just hit 1000 song plays in the 4 months i've been on broadjam. thank you for all of your support! G
Congrats Gordon!
Yay Gordon!!!
thank you, dianne and brian.
Well done!
That's a lot of plays over a short time. Not surprising though. You've got some great material Gordon.
thank you robert and lansig. you are both awesome! G
GRATZ!
thanks peter for getting me into the game!
Well deserved.
That's an awesome feat of accomplishment! Congratulations :)
thanks austin and mr. spermatochord.
cool
Hi Nathan I just listened to you last collab and I find it very well done! Nice climbing mostly of the voice intensity. I also love the violin section which adds a very nice color to the whole. Can I ask you, aside from the violin and voice, what else are you responsible for? Have you realized the entire arrangement? Very nice indeed and a cool idea the major chord at the end!
I love that I have anteres 7 and never use it :)!
Good Point! ;-)
Hi, Nathan. I've passed through some of your celtic instrumentals and I must say that these are excellent! Is that you who play all the violin?
Thanks Lansig! My first love in music is the fiddle. Oddly enough I never heard any Celtic music until I was about 14. I heard Natalie Macmasters playing at a Canada Day celebration and fell in love with the instrument and music from then on. Since then I've played fiddle on and off for many years. I've had the chance to sit in on masters classes with some of Canada's top fiddlers (Mairi Rankin, Troy Magillivray, Karrnnel Sawitsky)! Yes, I wrote those tunes and play all the fiddle in the songs. I still have plans off writing and recording a full length album of Celtic pieces..... Not enough hours in the day. Thanks for your thoughts . It would be awesome to do a piece together sometime.
Great! Quite impressive and you're right on tune! Yes, why not?! It would be really nice to try a collab one day... !
haha. yes indeed. Pitch is the bane of the fretless instrument :)! I've been teaching my kids the violin and it's sure taking me back to those early years before the muscle memory just takes your fingers where they need to go. I'll keep in touch and look forward to taking on a project together.
Hi Lansig, what were the titles of your three pieces in the final? Larry
Hi Larry. I think but I'm not sure that it was these ones: Moon Circus, Reflexions d'automne and A Touch of Light. I submitted 5 songs total but these were the ones with the best ranking.
Yes, I found all three. Just great pieces for sure. L
Thank you Larry. It's much appreciated !
I just realized that you're the one representing Canada! Well done Nathan!
Haha, yes indeed my fellow Canadian! Thanks so much Lansig! It's been pretty crazy to have gotten this far. I thought for sure you were going to be in the top 3. I've enjoyed your music from the first time I heard some of your music in the 6-pack. Regardless of a contests outcome you are tops in my book! Looking forward to staying in touch with you and your music in the future! I really appreciate your encouragement!
Congratulations for making it to the top 3! So nice music, arrangements and sound going on here! Good luck to you! I've listened to your songs again and again with continuous interest! I'll keep listening...!
Thanks for your very kind feedback and encouragement Lansig! You're guitar playing has inspired me to improve my bad habits. Cheers, David
Congrats Nathan for making it to the top 3! Best of luck to you too!
Lansig: Loved hearing your music in the reviews. Really sweet. It would have been great to have you in the final 3. What make is your guitar? A sweet tone, and great playing. Keep in touch. Larry
Thanks Larry! I've listened to many of your tracks and I believe these to be really excellent! Full of imagination and creativity. The votes went for you 3! It's a good choice pretty fair by the way. Very nice attention to communicate your appreciation! To answer your question: my guitars range from Yamaha flamenco hybrid to La Patrie classical. Best of luck for the next step !!
What a pride to be now charted in Canada TOP 10! I am so thankful to all members and external auditors, all fans for bringing me there. You made my day with the 3rd song charted in the current list. Not to mention The Hidden Creek which is now the first charted in the New Age genre. I am honnored. THANK YOU !
Very well done Thierry! Congratulations!
And Spring will return...! So beautiful! Wish you the best of luck in the contest! ;-)
Thank you, and good luck too, your songs are all great
hi lansig, is it you that has the acoustic with the paginini type violin soloing over the guitar? good luck in the finals if anyone deserves it it's you
Hi Gordon. I do have violin and guitar soloing in my song. Thank you for your encouragements! It's much appreciated...
what is the name of the song? is it listed on your song page?
Hi Gordon. The song you're talking about should be Moon Circus! ;-)
moon circus is a awesome composition. the violin is so haunting. and the guitar chord choices and runs are excellent. but the one i heard judging the top 20 6pack was just a acoustic rhythm switching between two chords a half step apart. and the violin player was playing like a madman. but looking for it i heard all of your songs. what a great collection. surely other guitar players will love.
probably those white falls guys from Russia, their manager is pitching their songs in the 6-pack
thanks stein, it was white fort! the song is 6/8. those guys are intense! glad to see you are still in the contest, as well as lansig, nathan(chameleon), vince(ideascapes) good luck to you all.
Just got this in the mail :)! Kinda cool! http://songwriter.songoftheyear.com/chameleon.htm 1
thats great. so did u win a prize pacakge? what song did u enter?
I had several songs entered, but the one that got the award was In My Own Way. There was no prize as I wasn't the finalist, but the way it was worded was "The 'Runner Up' placement shows that your song received extremely high scores and was found to be competitive with the winning songs. Only the top writers receive this placement. " So, not in the money, but a rather nice endorsement from the big boys :)! December is going to be exciting between having songs In UKSC, John Lennon Song writing contest, and Broadjam..... Cloud 9 right now :)!
thats cool. Ive got a couple in the jlsc , but I know its extremely competitve, so not holding my breath. but its good to have something to hope for, no matter what the odds.
Exactly! I actually don't care about awards so much, but it's obvious that placing in a competition like that would bring a lot of business your way. Definitely open a few doors in a persons career, so Here's hoping we knock a few doors down my friend! :)
Well done bud, always nice to have some recognition :o)
Congratulations, Nathan! That's awesome!
Thanks everyone!
That's so cool, Chameleon! You desserve this recognition...
Thanks a lot Lansig! A lot of artists around here deserve this recognition.... I'm just one of the lucky ones! I hope we can all share in each other victories. A community such as this certainly feeds us all and inspires us to greater efforts. I really appreciate your support.
Just listened to Au Café! Just awesome! Once again I'm mellow and transported to another shore where the temperatures are warm and the sun sets move very slowly across the sky. Love the progression through the piece.
Many thanks to you! I'm glad you liked it since its not so common and people must listen to it more than once to appreciate it! You have fine ears! Thanks again !
Hey Chameleon. I just listened to your last upload - I Still. It's very good, a solid rock track that should become a classic... well done!
Thanks so much Lansig! Should any song of mine ever achieve classic status will be a dream come true. It really means a lot that while my music is mostly unheard of, you take the time to encourage and support it! Thanks again, it really means a lot!
Hey! Thanks for your very nice and insightful review of my song "Au Café". All the best to you!
how I wish I could play so beautiful, so kind and gentle the melody.
walk through the DREAMLAND
I could just say the same about your beautiful texts and your great groove songs ... ! Thank you sir!
merci monsieur, merci. a privilege to know you now as Lansig and a common soul. merci!
je me souviens Quebecois - if I remember correctly. spent a few years in Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa - such cherished memories.
But why have you left then???
one never leaves - before my marriage to Helene, we spent several weeks in the northern part of the provence. her grandfather had a marvelous farm where we stayed some days. one morning I was ushered into the kitchen where Grand Pere Dion was sitting in a chair. with a smile on his face, he handed me his straight razor, shaving cup and brush. not something you forget - I lathered his chin and neck, gave the blade a ride upon the sharpening belt, and with his eyes looking into mine, proceeded top shave the grand pere. I was scared shitless and so very proud that he trusted me. not a nick or cut once I was done. took a warm towel to wipe off his face and he gave me a nod. we all then sat at the farm table to enjoy fresh baked bread laden with heavy cream and maple syrup. no, I haven't left - je me souviens
OMG!!!! Peter, your text is nothing else than a poem !! You gave me goosebumps just with your 2 or 3 sentences. I cannot believe the kind of artist you must be for being able to reach that impact. I went to listen to your most popular songs, especially Chase the Day.... You are blowing me away Peter, literally. Thanks for such emotions in your songs !, If you happen to come around, I don't have a farm, but certainly my cabin will please you. Would be honored. Thierry
was married at the oldest church within the provence, within North America. married with an amazing family. Helene Dion of Quebec City was (and shall always remain) my bride. our reception was in the Chateau Du Frontenac. we spent many weeks before that day so that the family and I could get to know one another. one week, we ventured into the northern part of the provence to visit her grandfather's farm. it was the first morning after our arrival that I was ushered into the kitchen. there was grand pere sitting in a chair with a smile in eyes and towel wrapped about his neck. I was given a lathering brush, soap cup and his straight razor with very simple instructions, grand pere wishes you to shave him this morning. when a person smiles with such warmth and confidence, I felt no reason to fear, even though I had never before held a straight razor in my hand, let alone shaved another being. he just smiled at me, looked me in the eye and gave me a nod. so, I lathered his leathered skin and proceeded to accept that honor. not a nick, not a cut, no blood. and, I felt so light headed with pride. the kitchen table exploded with laughter, strong coffee was poured, and we enjoyed fresh baked bread smothered in heavy cream with maple syrup. no, I never left. je me souviens - a part of my heart remains in that kitchen in the northern heart of the Quebec provence. thank you for stirring up that piece of my heart.
Is your blessed Helene somehow related to the so famous artist from Charlemagne here in Québec?
Gosh make it a song!! Will be a hit for sure! It sounds soooooo country. You r a real story teller !!
please, teach me how to express that very first day in the language, in the heritage they shared with me. grand pere pulled me away from the gaggle of famile so we could walk the property. many will never understand this, but what happened next shall always be a testimony to how we all belong. walking down the that path, grand pere would point to an object, perhaps a blade of grass, a tree, a bird, the sky, the sun. all this was in francais. in turn, I would share my tongue, my englais of those characters with him. it wasn't long before grand pere and I were conversing without hesitation nor need of interpretation. so quickly, and without any embarrassment, we spoke of life and why I loved my Helene. it was that next morning, (after the shave), that he gave me his approval. how does that happen? simple - we spoke from the heart and with all good intent. the heart does not lie. the heart is the truth that binds us all. that was the day before grand pere granted me permission to provide his morning shave. (never, ever forget who grants us their trust).
Peter, I would be very honored to be kind of useful. I went to your profile, and all your life, goods and bads are emerging from your music. Your are so talented that I ll try to do my best to help you translate your feelings, which I think I understood pretty well thanks to your imagery. Bless you.
Hi PGO! I'm from quebec and I find this to be such a wonderful story you're telling there at the farm ! As Thierry say, your small text is a real poem ... about trust ! Thank to share this with us ... ;-)
guess I should capture some rest if not sleep. so pleased to know you are there and willing to help me share what binds us all. my promise is we will venture into the beauty of language. here is the weakness of my heart, I desire to find Helene. not to re-capture her love, just to know she is well. does she have sons and daughters? how is the family Dion? what of the brothers Benoit, Claude and Jean? it is my shame that all these shall pass when they still remain in my thoughts. Thank YOU, Thierry. Thank YOU, Lansig. trust is our worth and bond for life. thank you for knowing the truth of how we live. my blessings to you and yours. Bon Chance. . .
Peter, I am taking all this matter for a french version of our new song. OK ? one never leaves - before my marriage to Helene, we spent several weeks in the northern part of the provence. her grandfather had a marvelous farm where we stayed some days. one morning I was ushered into the kitchen where Grand Pere Dion was sitting in a chair. with a smile on his face, he handed me his straight razor, shaving cup and brush. not something you forget - I lathered his chin and neck, gave the blade a ride upon the sharpening belt, and with his eyes looking into mine, proceeded top shave the grand pere. Hey! You have real nice and positive songs! I really enjoy Heroes. Fantastic ...
Awesome man! Thanks so much for checking out the tunes. I'm glad you enjoyed them. How's Québec this time of year? Just starting to feel the chill here in Manitoba. No snow yet thankfully :)!
Lansig! Gorgeous guitar playing and arrangements! Walk through dreamland is exquisite and so uplifting. I think I shall enjoy your playlist tonight with nice bottle of wine!
Well! Thank you so much Chameleon! It's much appreciated! Have very good evening ...
