Congratulations on having this song selected for the licensing opportunity!
Thank you very much! Which one you talking about?
hey Jim....just in case my playlist adds of Dark Preacher haven't made it quite crystal clear enough, all i have to say is that i want Dark Preacher played at my funeral....and at my wedding, and at my graduation, and at my birth...and at my nomination to asshole of the year...and at my retirement party..and every Sunday morning at brunch in lieu of attending any ceremony of organized religion. you, my good sir, are an effen genius!!!
Nathaniel, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Good to know you like it so much. Not so sure about the genius bit but, eh what the hey - I'll lap that up too! Thanks my friend!
True.
Thank you Mister Ferrie! pb
Jimmy the dog looks like a fabulous dancer! :)
Thank you Penny! How are you?
Things are pretty good here Jim...Also enjoyed your deep and scary spoken word one with Protilius and Starburst! :)
You have the voice!!!
well done and one helluva heartfelt song
Thanks Peter! Much appreciated. How are you doing?
mr jim - perhaps we ALL allow too much time to pass in between conversations. so grateful to 'hear' you continue making music of your own design. me, I'm okay and doing my best to make noise as good as yours!
New song "The things we never said" is now on free download!
I've just had a royalty payment from PRS! I'm sure it's for one of my instrumentals forwarded by Song & Film Inc., but which one and on which show, I can't yet find out. Very frustrating!
Well well, it's been a long time......just got another song picked up today; Elephants on mars got selected for "Quirky Instrumentals: Major cable network seeking songs - Round 20"!!
Nice One Jimbo ! Brilliant mate !
Big CONGRATZ to BIG JIM!
Hi Jim, "gefeliciteerd!" Am listening to your song now, Quite quirky!
Thanks guys! It's a bitter-sweet moment. My mother passed away yesterday after a short illness. I found out yesterday just before I got the news of her passing.
I'm sorry for your loss! as we say in holland: "Sterkte" (wich means, stay strong, literally) regards Floris
Sorry to hear Jim....Take Care mate !
Yes so sorry to hear that Jim.. Thinking of you and your family and sending lots of love,Penny
Thanks Penny. Much appreciated.
New song added.....first one in over a year...
I love your song a Part of me. What type of bass is that in the track?
I use Ableton Live 8 as a DAW. The bass is the software upright bass preset. When I recorded this track I had available only my Mac, an Apogee One interface with built-in omni mic and a cheap Cort 6-string. I knew the bass part previously from my 4-string, so I used the draw function to pencil in the notes, adjust velocity etc. I was pretty amazed at the result. I'm an Ableton fan, obviously. Thanks for your comment. Glad you liked the track!
Haw Jimbo....YeeeHaaaaw...yer back ! Great...Hope All's well. I'm still diggin' the tunnel, but will be there by the middle of the summer. Lipstick Lumberjack...lol...you been hangin' out in dodgy places again...Great Stuff mate...Good to hear you again! All The Best....Ian
Thanks Ian, good to hear from you! Hope all is well in sunny Kent. I've got a couple more in the pipeline, my scant produce from 2011 just now making it onto coded software! Cheers, Jim
I could not even tell it was a software bass. Nice
Damn, Jim... hell of a job on that Bobby C...Lyric If You're Leaving, Say Goodbye.... beautiful keyboard work and hell of a vocal performance on that one.. Well Done, Mate. Joe
Thank you Joe! Your SONG version of the Bobby C lyric ain't half bad either!
Thanks, Jim
Hey Jim... !!! Happy New Year!!! like that Funky Monkey Tune... sitting here tappin my foot and hearing a horn section in there... Well done... !!! Joe
A very merry Christmas to you all. And best wishes for a hugely successful and prosperous 2012.
Hey Jim, All The Best To You mate ! it's been a while...hope everything is going well, Have a Great Christmas & New Year!
Thanks for the review of out "SHE GETS DOWN TO BUSINESS SONG" I thought you were right on the money--
A very Merry Christmas 2010 and a very prosperous 2011 to all my fellow Broadjammers!
Thanks Jim! Hope all is well in Portugal. V>
Merry Christmas Jim and Vince! Best to all out there in music land!
Onya m8!!!! all the best J.
If any of my Bjam connections are also at the TAXI rally this weekend, please ring my room through the LAX Westin front desk and maybe we can arrange for a quick meet-up!
Great idea! That would be cool and I would really like to meet and hang out. I am not quite ready for prime time yet and am hoping to be able to part of TAXI in the future. I don't know about the others, but it would be great to hear a report of how it went there. Thanks for the general invite, pretty cool...
Will do Vince.
Enjoy Vince! I was there at Taxi last year, it was great and made me rethink a few things. I'm sorry I couldn't go this year, it's a costly trip for me right now. If you get a chance, go to the open mic. on the first floor, run by fellow B'jam members Neil and Elizabeth from Pairadeux (and Denver, CO.). Taxi gave them official sanction two years ago and their open mic. is better than the 'other' ie, the main one. If you see them and do a piano spot, tell 'em I said "Hi".
Thanks for making Crimson Sunset available as a free download track. This is a truly outstanding track! I hope you have great success with it.
Thanks Jim! This song was originally written when we were 11 and 13 yrs old and professionally recorded two years later.
very much liking ding dong let's go!!!
muchas gracias
I'm glad you've put "Tomorrow Starts Tonight" up for sale on your page again. Unless I'm mistaken, this is a revised/remastered version and it sounds great! This track is one of the best on Broadjam as far as I'm concerned and is more worthy of a UK chart position than most modern rock ballads. I hope you keep pushing the song and have great success with it eventually.
Thanks Jim, your right it has been remastered and we are glad you like it. We are a unsigned band still trying to get our music out there we have loads of positive feedback but we just need that lucky break like most others on Broadjam. Thanks again Andi
Thanks for your review of "Glass of Truth". Yes, the backing vox is a bit out and was the best I could do at 3am! This track was a rush job of largely 1st takes as the deadline for the 2008 6-pack contest on this song was that same day, so I'm glad you saw through the errors and liked it for what it was. One day, I'll get round to doing a proper version!
Thanks for your review of "The Longing" and your helpful comments. Glad you liked it. Jim
Thanks for your review of my "Someone's trying to kill me". Glad you liked it. It was written and recorded for a Broadjam opportunity for a 70's/80's classic rock track for TV/Film. Yes, you're right, it's a 'fake' voice, the vocal done in a 'cockney' London style to ape the punk bands of that time (in fact, most of my vocals are a fake voice as I'm neither English nor American!) and in the case of this track, it was REALLY aped-up! Influences from The Buzzcocks, The Damned, The Ruts, Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols, (or John Lydon as he is these days is practically a neighbour) and my hero Ian Dury. Again, thanks for listening and glad you enjoyed it!
Hi All! Great news! I was named the "Artist of The Week" last week in Denmark with 4 songs in the Top 20 Music Charts!
Great news Chet!
NICE!!! Thats awesome!
Congrats 2 U
Thanks for your review of "Glass of Truth". Glad you liked it. Jim.
Hey Jim--Are you going to make to Taxi this year? Catnippat
Hello Pat! Good to hear from you....... No, unfortunately I won't. Money's tight and I'm trying to get a new business off the ground, but some of the guys we met last year should be going. Be sure to check out the open mic on the second floor run by my good friends Neil and Elizabeth of Pairadeux. Have a good Rally, best, Jim
Jim, Sorry you wont be there. I'll miss laughing my butt off with you! Good luck on the studio. Catnippat
Hi Fred, thanks for your review of my soundtrack "Catch me if you can", all done using Ableton Live 8. Glad you liked it so much and it's nice to get this kind of feedback from a long-time Broadjam member such as yourself. Just had a mail from Dave Davis, who loves your work, so I'm gonna check out your new material. all the best. Jim
Thanks for your review of "When I'm dead and in my grave". i had fun writing it and I'm more than thankful to the BBC's kim lenaghan (whom i love very much) for taking the time out of her radio broadcasting to sing the female part of the duet (oops - looks like the caps lock has packed up again). jim
glad to see the pictures of the taxi road rally-i wanted to go so bad and couldn't afford it at the time-mike laskow is a great visionary-peace-joe.
Joe, thanks for the great review of "people of the lie". Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, the road rally - great event, not sure I'll be able to attend this year, but crossing fingers all the same! jim
Thanks for the incredible review. It really helps to know you paid attention with such detail.
My pleasure Shecky!
Jim, thanks for the honest review. It's really helpful. My brother and I have been doing songs for two months now and are just learning how to do it. I do the singing and all the instrumentation. and record it on a free internet program called audacity. we got a long way to go before we get pro vocalists are players so our work is raw. on my site there are stronger songs ( but the vocals are still me ) that have got some good reviews. Your rewiew was very thorough are right on. Great music ear, thanks----Jim Fleurent
Hey Jim, you did a great job, considering you recorded the track on Audacity! Only two months?! I think it's great you and your brother are working together on songs. You've already come a long way in two months. You're in the right web community to get encouragement and your writing/recording can only get better by participating in this site. If you're on PC, Sony's "Acid Music Studio" is a good entry level Digital Audio Workstation and cost less than $100 (I think it's about the 50 mark in the US.) It's got a range of sounds and built-in effects and will give you a good standard of demo production. You can cut your teeth on that then move on to the fully-pro version AcidPro. If you're a MAC user, then Garageband '09 which comes pre-loaded with the machine is absolutely great and easy to use.
