The band CHVoR was formed in 1999 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The name CHVoR (pronounced “ch4”) was inspired by a Bulgarian word that means a wood-knot; also a weird person that follows what he believes in, no mater what.
The band writes and performs its own music, sounding in the range of modern/alternative rock/metal with light rap/hip-hop influences.
Similar bands: Crossfade, Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park,Breaking Benjamin,Three Days Grace.
Band members are:
Leech – vocals
Eddie – bass
Mescalito – guitars
Iliya – drums
Band member’s age is from 20 to 28 years.
Some history:
Iliya and Leech first met as competing musicians in a “Battle of the Bands” event in Sofia. In a weird turn of events, couple of months later they met after their original bands broke up.
Their strong individualities made them choose the name CHVoR stating their difference from the crowd and their indifference to the criticism for their alternative and ahead-of-it’s-time music and life stile.
After several attempts to attract reliable and capable musicians to the cause, the founders of CHVoR managed to get the old friend Eddie back into music after he almost gave it all up and sell out his equipment.
Mescalito was recruited during a Spanish language course he took with Leech.
The band members work and hang out as best friends for more than 5 years now.
Working on alternative and catchy song structure CHVoR have produced and recorded more that 25 songs on their own expenses. With heavy guitar sound, melodic vocal hooks, alternative live and solid bass sound the band is aiming at teen/college audience although the strong messages in the lyrics address some of the young/adult audience as well.
The band have won several music awards - Radio “Tangra” music award 2003 for modern/alternative rock song; “Passport Live” Festival 2002 in Sofia – Second prize and the prize of the audience; Varna music festival 1999 the prize of the audience. Balkan Alternative - music festival in Skopje 2004 third prize. Opening for Sofia Music/Film fest 2002.
The band CHVoR works for international appearance, self-producing and selling singles and albums and performing live (clubs, stages, festivals and other venues), also works to appear in computer/video games, radio/TV shows, movies and online. With their experience, fan base, ready material, great hit music productivity and dedication to success the band members are looking for assistance to bring their career to the next level. Recording contract, management agreement, production/artist development contract or other music industry opportunity will be considered as a support in achieving the band’s goal – long-term successful music career.
