BIO
A-TRAX has arrived to the music industry, ready to make a strong impression and leave no stone unturned. But before we get to A-TRAX , the next hot production team out of Atlanta we have to go back……….
It was evident at a young age that these two producers/artists/songwriters would eventually make their mark on the music industry. Reggie McClure (R.E.G.) launched his interest in music in his church. At five years of age he was singing solos and participating in the music program. “I remember dragging my guitar to church behind my mother (he laughs), that thing was bigger than I was”, he says.
Kirk Williams (K-ROCS) followed in similar footsteps. At 8 years old, K-ROCS began playing bass guitar. By the age of 10 he was bass guitar player for the adult band and choir at his church. “Man, my dad would have me practicing with him for hours at a time!” laughs K-ROCS. “R.E.G. has been through a few jam sessions with us as adults and knows what I am talking about. My fingers would ache, but now I realize that without that type of work ethic, it would be impossible to be successful in this industry.” Both men were born with the gift of music and creativity that has led them to this very place in their lives.
The worlds of these two intersected in high school, where they studied music together and formed a bond that till this day has not been broken. “Our relationship was real cool in high school and it was good to find someone that shared the same passion for music,” said K-ROCS. Upon graduating K-ROCS would leave for college and returned to find that R.E.G. while attending KSU , had co-formed a group, Marquise, consisting of hometown friends and was working toward securing a record deal. K-ROCS eventually got involved.
As members of Marquise these two men played major roles in the writing and production for the group. K-ROCS would lace the tracks and R.E.G. served as the lead singer, co-writer and co-producer. They traveled throughout the southeast and performed in such venues as the Fox Theatre, Underground Atlanta, The Sweet Auburn-fest and the Atlanta Black Expo. They received high acclaim and were considered one of the hottest unsigned acts during the late 90’s. This was the beginning of their collaborative effort and the trip down the road that would lead to A-TRAX, the latest hot production team to penetrate the industry.
What makes A-TRAX special is their diversity and synergy. A-TRAX’s musical influence span across a broad spectrum of styles and genres: modern influences from Quincy Jones to R. Kelly and Timbaland as well as production teams like Tim & Bob. We appreciate and respect the work of the many artists that have come before us and believe that not only the influence but the different insights to music help us to define ourselves.
This duo possesses not only artistic ability, but also the technical skills needed to understand the production process and musicianship. “Our formal training gives us the background to understand the theory and mechanics behind music composition and performance” says K-ROCS. “We understand that production is more than just creating tracks.” adds R.E.G., “Outside of the business and planning aspects, you must be able to successfully draw out the best performance possible from the artist to truly create a work of art”. With an in depth knowledge of audio production, this team is able to communicate at multiple levels – from musician to artist to engineer - in terms that they understand. “Experience in each part of the production process gives us a great insight and credibility when dealing with engineers and mastering houses” says K-ROCS. “Effective communication based on mutual respect for the work that goes into every task.”
With the talent, diversity, work ethic and drive evident in R.E.G. and K-ROCS, they are poised and ready to take the entertainment industry by storm. A-TRAX - make it hot!
