I've Always Wanted A Friend Like You!

Story Behind The Song

I can too easily relate to my own song. Being lonely is painful and not knowing how to reach out to express that also hurts. But in my song, a lonely person reaches out to another lonely person, only to be rejected at first. But there is friendship in the end, as the singer reaches out for friendship and finds out the other person is also lonely! This gives all involved hope for a lasting friendship!

Song Description

Being lonely much of my life, and longing for a friend, I was able to easily write the lyrics to this hopeful song. A lonely person seeks the friendship of another person who rejects them. The lonely person over hears the other person, saying they are lonely also. This sparks a kinship and sets the stage for a long lasting friendship!

Lyrics

VERSE ONE
I'M WALKING DOWN THE STREET, AND SUDDENLY WE MEET, YOU SAY HELLO. IT'S HARD NOT TO PRETEND, I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND I TOLD YOU SO BUT YOU SAID NO. JUST TRY AND UNDERSTAND THAT I'VE BEEN LONELY TOO, I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A FRIEND LIKE YOU!

VERSE TWO
I'M AT A PICTURE SHOW, WITH PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW, THEN YOU APPEAR. I GET UP ON MY FEET, AND THEN YOU TAKE A SEAT ACROSS THE WAY I HEARD YOU SAY. JUST TRY AND UNDERSTAND THAT I'VE BEEN LONELY TOO, I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A FRIEND LIKE YOU!

VERSE THREE TO TAG
I'M DRIVING IN MY CAR, I SEE YOU FROM AFAR, I WAVE MY HAND. YOU GIVE A LITTLE SMILE, I KNOW THAT LIFE'S WORTHWHILE I UNDERSTAND THAT LIFE IS GRAND. I KNOW I WON'T BE LONELY BEFORE THE DAY IS THROUGH. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A FRIEND, I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A FRIEND, I'M GLAD THAT FRIEND TURNED OUT TO BE YOU! JUST LIKE YOU! JUST LIKE YOU!
