Story Behind The Song
My mom has been gone for 15 years. It took me 10 years to write this song. In the song, I had more time to get used to her being ill and passing. But in truth, her death was quite sudden. Even so, it's been hard to get used to. Writing the song in explanation for her effect on my life was therapeutic for me.
Song Description
My mom had a great effect on me. She knew how to live life. After she died, there was a huge void in my life, and this song was my way of keeping her memory alive in me.

What Life is All About
ROADMAP: VS1; PreCH1; CH; VS2; PreCH 2; CH; BR; PreCH3; CH
VS1
Sunday at noon, sitting on the front porch swing
Hanging out together, not doing much of anything
Mama and me, sipping ice tea, watching summer drift on by
'Til suddenly, she took my hand and looked me in the eye
PreCh 1
She said, "Honey, there is something you should know
It'll make your life sweeter no matter where you go.
CH
What life is all about is not some melodrama you might see on TV
What life is all about is living everyday the way it was meant to be
It is peace of mind, taking time
Loving God and family
I pray that someday, just like me you'll see
What life is all about
VS2
I must admit, Mama's words fell on deaf ears
Knowin' what she meant, I learned between her tears
Watchin' her days slippin' away as she fought for her life
Was so hard for me, but I came to see her in a different light
PreCh 2:
I remembered that day out on the front porch swing
And I wanted to live like her more than anything
BR
Her simple words became my lifesong, and though she's gone away
Every precious gem she gave to me, I'm living out today
PreCh 3
One day soon, I'll take my daughter's hand
And share my Mama's wisdom, and hope she understands
