Story Behind The Song
I had been writing a song about my life, (growing up watching my Dad make records and perform at the concerts), years ago and before I ever finished it, I had gone out and bought Wade Hayes first CD; I've always dug his music, singing and guitar playing. So sure enough, on this CD "On a Good Night", track 10 is this song "This is the Life for Me", and I couldn't believe it. It was nearly identical to the song I had been writing, but it described my life better than the song I wrote myself, about myself. So basically, it ruined my song and I couldn't finish it after hearing this version because my song would have been near identical, so I knew that when it came down to it, I would just have to record this one, and trash mine. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened. The end.
Song Description
This song is about growing up as a boy and going with, and watching my Dad record in the studios and perform at concerts, shows, gigs, etc. and knowing that I wanted to do that for a living too. So as I got older, after going to college, and trying some other avenues, I ended up on the road, just like my Dad, and because I have tried other things in my life, I knew that traveling with my band and living the life of music was the life for me.

Lyrics
This is the life, the only one I want to know. Every day another town, every night another show. Ever since I was a boy, I had this crazy dream. Now I know it was meant to be. This is the life. This is the life for me!
