Rainy and The Dust

Rainy and The Dust is the live project of Bristol-based singer/songwriter Rainy, currently a duo with guitarist Rob York. Together, they bring to the stage beautiful rootsy-acoustic world grooves, infused with the positivity of Rainy's lyrics and tied together by an eclectic and laid back musical style. A favourite on BBC Radio Bristol, Radio Cardiff and Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Music show among others, Rainy won the 2011 PRS song writing competition and has played at the likes of Glastonbury, Beachbreak, Lakefest (supporting Reef alongside Toploader), Goldcoast Oceanfest (supporting Ash Grunwald, Ben Howard and Ed Sheeran) and many other festivals and venues across the U.K. When people are trying to put a finger on Rainy and The Dust's sound, they are often compared with the likes of Dave Matthews, G-Love and Paul Simon. In truth, they are nuances of all of the above... and something else entirely!

"Is this the new west coast sound? Like Bill Withers on a surf board or a slacker generation Paul Simon. Rainy's laid-back grooves get under your skin" Justin Adams (Robert Plant and the Strange Sensations & Tinariwen producer, BBC3 world music award winner '08).

"Soundtrack to the summer!" Sophie Oliver (BBC Radio Bristol)

Rainy is a singer/songwriter, musician and engineer drawing on a wide range of styles and influences. He graduated from Gateway School of Recording in 1997 and went on to work as a house engineer at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, working with a wide variety of bands, from Napalm Death to Dr. Didg to Del Amitri. He then moved to Wales and engineered for guitarist Uli Jon Roth (The Scorpions) as well as continuing to work as a studio and live engineer. From his home studio he released 'What It All Boils Down To' in 1999 and performed and developed these songs with his band Little Gaia (Justin Fellows, Tom Forgaard, Gareth Anthony). He engineered and featured on Nayfe sj's 'All About The Lessons' in 2001. After traveling and performing in Australia he returned in 2006 with 'Hold On To The Rhythm' recorded at his new home near Bath U.K. and a new band line up. In 2012 he produced Caroline Harrisons EP 'A Simple wish'. Rainy is currently working on his new album, anticipating release in 2014.

Hallo Rainy and The Dust, Quite some time ago you reviewed my song TWEET TARILLA, and I failed to thank you for your kind words and positive, constructive criticism. I write the lyrics, the music is by B. Greiner. I hope you are mending well, I feel for you extra much now, for I broke my hip before Christmas, and I'm working hard to recover. Good luck to you and your back. Physical Therapy is the greatest. Cheers, Birthe.
