Country Stampede 2012
David started the NSAI chapter in the Manhattan, Kansas area in 2010. David has seen his songwriting family grow in numbers to the size it is today.
David Thompson is from Clay Center, Kansas. He's been playing the guitar and writing music as a hobby since he was a teenager. He has written classical guitar, country, contemporary Christian, novelty, jazz, Americana, adult contemporary, blues, flamenco, and classic rock. His works in progress music is occasionally posted on Songramp.com under the stage name of "UncleNick". David is
also is an international airline pilot for a major airline and enjoys flying radio control aircraft and light planes in his spare time. His goal is to help someone in North Central Kansas create a top selling song, and with the talented group he has gathered it is only a matter of time before that goal achieves fruition.
David's sense of humor rubs off in his writing, as in his songs "Uncle Nick" and "They Taste Like Chicken". Coming originally from Hugoton, Kansas, in the very southwest corner of the state. "It's not the end of the world, but you can walk to it from there. It was a great place to spend my youth with great family, friends, and community".
After starting writing music at age 10, great solace was discovered in writing through the teenage angst of high school and college. Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones greatly influenced his playing style. After raising a family and having a little more free time, David rediscovered the love and art of songwriting.
"I doubt I'll ever write 'Song of the Year', and it would be hard to give up my other career in aviation to chase my musical dream. As an NSAI coordinator, I am very busy in helping aspiring songwriters reach their goals, and that is very rewarding". David unselfishly and patiently gives of himself month after month in his efforts to help others. David is eager to equip and inspire others through his service, and to entertain and inspire others through his music.
As a writer it's always "My latest song and the one I am working on now... are the two best songs I've ever written. I recently co-wrote a ballad called 'Where the Girls Used to Be', a sensitive song about the husband of a breast cancer survivor and his message to assure his wife that 'You're all I'll ever need.' This song was co-written with KenM.
The comedy country song 'They Taste Like Chicken' was inspired during a spicy pizza dinner at the Mellow Mushroom in Nashville with Ev Fox and Ken E. Robertson.
David is currently working on a niche album of "songs about life through the eyes of the aviator." The general public will get little understanding from the lyrics, but aviators of all skill levels should find the music inviting and encouraging. The song "Red Sunset" is a 50's style song from the EP which should be out in early 2014.
