AutoBiography
As the old saying goes, “The apples doesn’t fall far from the tree”.
Being the daughter of George McCrae known for his world hits such as “Rock Your Baby” and Gwen McCrae known for her hits such as “Rockin Chair,” was born and raised in Florida. I started at the age of 7 like many artist, in the church and competing in talent shows such as Discovery. At the age of 13, I started singing background for my mother in the studio and building my experience by performing for local production companies, local television shows, and opening for my mother.
After high school I took a break from singing and joined the Army. While stationed in Colorado, I found myself back into music. Enhancing my writing and vocal experience, through studio work and opening for artists such as Nonchalant known for her success “Five O’clock in the Morning.” Four years later, I got out of the Army, and moved to Europe.
While in Europe, I performed on television specials, high class parties such as Mercedes Benz and BMW, for magazines such as Top Party, for American Airlines and KLM, and also had the chance to sing for African royalty on the special wedding of the king of Ghana (King Cephas Bansah).
In 2001 I recorded with the production company 3d Music. My first single, Can I Get Busy One Time, was released through the UK independent label Urbanstar.
During that period I promoted the single by opening for recording artist Usher,)in the Heineken Hall in Amsterdam and Forrest Hall in Brussels. I also did special appearances in England, such as the Southport Weekender with DJ Trevor Nelson. I also promoted myself by touring on the Touch My Soul tour throughout Europe.
I then collaborated with Full Crew’s Michael Daley, to record a 2nd single called “Summervibe”.
Both singles are featured on Urbanstar’s compilation albums and has appeared on the Blues and Soul Urban Charts.
I then toured to Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Spain, and Curacao to perform for the Princess Company and their “Model of the Year” elections in the spring of 2003.
In the fall of 2003, I collaborated with the late talented Dutch pianist Glenn Corneille, and recorded “You are so Beautiful”, for Princess and their Princess Record label. I also recorded two new singles with Soulplanet and OD Hunte called, “Rain on My Windowpane” and “My Appetite”, which was later released through Urbanstar, and featured on the Blues and Soul Charts, in December 2003.
In 2004, I collaborated with house specialists Groovefinder US and Richard Earnshaw who remixed my mother’s classic “All This Love I’m Giving” (originally recorded with Full Crew for the Urbanstar’s Tribute compilation). It made great reviews in the house scene.
I was later invited to perform for the Princess Model of the World contest held in Hong Kong in October 2004.
In the summer of 2005, I was invited to tour Europe with the Daughter‘s of Soul Project which featured, Sandra St. Victor of Family Stand, Simone daughter of Nina Simone, Lalah Hathaway daughter of Donnie Hathaway, Indira Kahn daughter of Chaka Kahn, Nona Hendryx of Labelles, Joyce Kennedy of Mother‘s Finest, and Caron Wheeler of Soul II Soul
