Keith Michael Field grew up in Chicago where he played guitar with friends Steve Goodman (Went on to be famous folk figure "City of New Orleans") and keyboard buddy Pat Leonard (Went on to write Live to Tell with Madonna, Michael Jackson Victory Tour etc & Top Producer) who as young schoolmates would jam in the '60s and early 70s.
Keith has played stringed instruments since 1957 and became acquainted with many styles from Blue Grass to Mariachi. Keith discovered open tunings in 1966 and has become a recording specialist in multiple stylizations and ethnic exotic string ensembles. Keith has written, performed and recorded hundreds of film, TV and commercials as well as songs with many artists including Sheryl Crowe, Stanley Clark, Kansas, Stewart Copeland (Police), Jeff Baxter (Doobie Bros), David Crosby, Roger McGuinn (Byrds), Corky Siegel, Steve Goodman (City of New
