Michael Richter
Michael was born and adopted in Berlin, Germany in 1969. He moved to the U.S. with his newly adopted family in 1974 where he began his musical studies in piano witch continued for 13 years, and then higher studies for an additional 4 years. Composing his first minuet at the age of 6, he knew why he was alive. The adoption was the best thing that happened to him. It gave him the chance to do the otherwise impossible, to follow his dreams. (Long Story)
• At the age of 18 he attended Full Sail center for the recording arts and graduated in 1989. About 3 months later he left for Germany. There he explored and knocked on doors, but none opened. Then on a cold and wintry day one door did open. A composer by the name of Erik Ohl gave him an engineering job in his recording studio (Frankfurt, Germany). There he worked as a mastering engineer for Mr. Ohl for very little pay (sob story), but at night he could use the studio to work on his own compositions. It was a very inspirational year for him being that he could witness the fall of the Berlin wall and many other changes in the region. He eventually mastered 8 albums in a 2-year period and then moved back to the U.S. Erik Ohl is now a Golden Bambie award winner (German Grammy).
• Back in Florida walking through a mall he saw an organ store. In about ten minutes he was hired and started the next day. The career with that company lasted about 5 years. Selling organs helped Michael to communicate with people and he learned how to sell himself, not just the organ. He enjoyed playing the concerts more than selling. He performed all over the U.S. for FMC. He became a master organist in that time. His piano skills were already great so the organ playing was not the ordinary sound you would expect from an organ.
• Late ’96 he started his own label and recording studio. Water VU Recording studios. During that period he produced 35 local Florida artists and became a published composer/songwriter. The studio was then sold.
• In 2000 he went back to Germany and worked in a Berlin recording studio. He produced acts from around the world but again working for others.
• In 2001 Michael started working for the Thomas Organ Company. He helped design, engineer and build a line of home organs that are in about 10,000 homes worldwide now.
• After Thomas he started working for another large piano and organ company. He became a manager in less then a year and ended up managing 3 stores. In a period of 3 years he made the company over 3.6 million dollars in gross prophets. He was also playing as a Roland concert artist witch made it possible for him to see the country a great deal. He loved it.
• About two years into the Music World endeavor he met his wife to be. She had been living in the UAE for the past six years. He got married and moved to Dubai (United Arab Emirates). His wife had already been there for 6 years and the idea was at first a little scary, but turned out to be a great move. He now scores music for such companies as Sony, MBC, and many independent broadcasters. He has released his first album in the Middle East “Lost for Words”, and the second on the way. Many are already enjoying the album and are looking forward to “Reflections” the second album. He is being distributed by Music Box International. (Virgin Mega Stores/Geant/Carrefour)Michael has also been commissioned to score the music for a documentary film called “From Dust” which will soon be on the market.
