Guitarist Matt Richards bridges genres and defies expectations on solo acoustic guitar, with his not-so-traditional 'Power Trio Jazz Project' and in his musical collaborations. He also composes and self-produces his own music.
Matt was recently featured at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Lewiston Jazz Festival, Winter and Summer NAMM Shows, the Montreal Guitar Show, South Korea's One Month Festival, Daniel Pearl Music Days and Welcome America celebrations. Matt has partnered with Larry Coryell, Mike Clark, Joey DeFrancesco, Café, Kenwood Dennard, Essra Mohawk and Bobby Zankel. He has played in support for Paco Pena, Peppino D'Agostino, Richie Havens and Dave Mason and performed on-screen in the film Smoke And Mirrors.
Matt's fifth release 'Balance' features him in a solo guitar setting, performing original material and his own arrangements of both standard and contemporary music.
A BMI-affiliated artist, Matt composes and produces ensemble works for a range of musical settings.
