I've been writing songs now for just about a year. I write on the piano and my main inspiration is jazz and exploring new chords in tried and trusted progressions to give melodic ideas.
A lot of my first songs are rather old style so I'm trying to go for a more up to date sound and get a bit more smooth and slinky.

Good Morning Ian,

Thank you so much for the kind review of my song, "I Know Who You Are". The song comes for one of my recent CDs, "Sunday Morning". I wrote the song back in 1978 and did a simple voice-guitar demo, but never did a full-up version until over 30 years later and since I released it it has become a #1 song! Go figure. I still have a lot of songs that need to need to be produced....since I write one or two a week and using have 4 or 5 projects cooking. The whole process has become a lot more sustainable and fluid since the invention of DAW systems that can be used in more convenient and affordable environments.

Hey, it look like you might be new to Broadjam! Welcome! It is a vibrant and helpful community of people unlike many I take part in on the web. Be sure to take part in the music licensing opportunities .... they are a good way to possibly make some income to help support your musical passion.

Stop by my site and enjoy some more music if you are so inclined.

Best to you,

Chet Nichols

Thanks for the welcome Chet.
Yes I'm new here....well, new to it all really. Just can't stop writing songs!
Not very good at recording them yet though!

Thanks for the great music!

Are you using digital software? Are you Mac or PC? Digital is the way to go....no "ifs-ands-or-buts".
Mac has some great software that stair steps up as you become more experienced. Start off using Garage Band...and work up to the various Logic versions.....

Best

Chet
