I was born in Detroit Michigan December of 1958 the 4th of four children to Eugene (a jazz/scat singer) and Katherine (a dancer) Whitfield. The influence of Jazz and Motown molded me into the artist I am today. I began at the age of 7 in my grade school talent shows and musicals and continued through high school and college at Western Michigan University. I left early without graduating to perform live at the local clubs all over Michigan and added a little studio work throughout.

My writing began some years ago however the subject matter of my songs never seemed quite right along with the avenue of which to send them out. IÂ've committed myself to Jesus Christ and from that moment on, my song writing has blossomed into what it is today.

My major influences have been (vocalist): Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, (song writers): Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach, Kenny Loggins, James Taylor, and Jule Styne to name only a few.
