"Beneath the Surface" is an excellent addition to your music collection. Jocelyn delivers beautiful vocals, impassioned lyrics and polished production. The EP manages to stay consistent and fresh throughout, creating great anticipation for an album from this Toronto based singer/songwriter. With her incredible talent, Jocelyn is poised to make a mark on the international music scene. Her ability to evoke real emotions and fit them to creative lyrical content and smooth grooves makes "Beneath The Surface" appealing on many different levels. Whether it's the anthem-style "Can A Gurl”, the danceable allure of "Like Fire”, or the beautifully harmonious "Lullaby", the EP is cohesive and engaging. The first track asks "Can A Gurl take what a gurl wants?" and after listening to "Beneath The Surface" I have an addendum. Can A Gurl be saucy, sophisticated and empowered?
