I am a lyricist who has written songs in a variety of genres.

I joined Broadjam to achieve two basic objectives: 1) Find songwriters to write music for the lyrics I've written or will write in the future. 2) Find musicians who want to perform and record the songs I've already had a part in writing.

If you're a songwriter looking for lyrics I have a PDF file with 25 of my available lyrics. Contact me and I'll send it to you. I do require a proficiency in recording basic tracks; doesn't have to be elaborate. For full recordings I've had success with Kompoz.com.

In June I started a hardcore push to find music writers to work with. I currently have 92 available lyrics in three PDF files.

Stanfield Major, Lyricist

Stanfield Major was born in Normal, Illinois and raised in nearby Eureka.

He began writing lyrics at the tender age of 14 during the tumultuous musical years of the late 1960's.

While still living in Illinois he collaborated with a number of local musicians. The best songs of this period were written with Rich Teegarden.

In 1980, following his move to Santa Barbara, California, Stanfield joined the Santa Barbara Songwriter's Guild. It was through this organization that he met Steven Williams, his next major collaborator. During this time they were also taking songwriting classes with Jack Segal (Scarlet Ribbons, When Sunny Gets Blue) and Alan O'Day (Undercover Angel, Angie Baby, Rock & Roll Heaven). Stanfield collaborated with Alan O'Day on a couple of songs.

In 1984 Stanfield moved to Nashville. Despite living in the songwriting capital of the world he didn't accomplish much. In 1989, for personal reasons, he moved to Kingman, AZ.

In early 1998 Stanfield, inspired by Bob Dylan's Time Out of Mind album, began a lyric writing spurt unlike anything he'd experienced since the late 1970s and early 1980s. By the end of the year he'd written seventeen lyrics. While this was happening he began an online search for music writers. The songs with John Bizzack and David Medlicott are the fruits of this search.

In late 1998 he joined the Las Vegas Songwriter's Association. For the next three years he often made a 200 mile commute to participate in the LVSA weekly songwriting workshop.

In March 2001 he attended the Southern Utah Songwriting School in St. George and was privileged to meet and learn from Steve Seskin (Grown Men Don't Cry, Don't Laugh At Me, No Doubt About It) and Beth Neilson Chapman (Walk My Way, This Kiss, Happy Girl). The lyric for "All She Ever Wanted" was born when Steve Seskin challenged a class to write a song using that title.

In early September of 2007 he placed an ad seeking local musicians in the local Dollar Saver and Gilbert Sanchez responded. They began collaborating and soon after the group 7th And Beale was born. Their CD Crossroads And Highways was released in 2008.

In April of 2010 Stanfield stumbled across the collaboration website Kompoz.com. He spent the next year or so working intensively with a number of musicians from around the world.

From 2007 to the present Stanfield has continued to write songs with Gilbert Sanchez. He also continues to find new music writers to work with.

You're quite welcome Tom.

You may have noticed they don't even have a horse in the race. They say their genre is Rock, have been around since 2006, and specialize in female vocalists. The one song they have up is a classical piano number. Go figure.

Stanfield, thank you so much for the awesome review on my song "Missing You" That means the world to me right now. Thanks again. David
