Not much is known except for the fact that it is the brain child of singer, songwritter Chris Reyes. Written and recorded almost entirely on Cake Walk software on the computer the music transcends from everything to having loud fuzzy guitars to stripped down and melodic. Early on songs leaked out to the radio and internet before paving the way to several sold out shows at bars and venues around the El Paso area(home of The Mars Volta and Sparta) to Phoenix Arizona where they now reside. With an ever changing line up of musicians, producers, and guitarists alike one thing has stayed consistent....strong vocal hooks followed by deep personal lyrics. Choosing to allow others to download the songs for free and continue to rely mostly on word of mouth only time will tell when STICHBOY will once again reemerge. For now, new music is in the works for a late december early january release. Not much else is either known or has been provided.

The Storm Review

This week, we’re taking the winter blues head on with some talented artists who know a thing or two about bad weather. If it’s a turbulent relationship or just an ache in their bones, these musicians get the point across through blustery lyrics, crashing sound effects, and pitter-pattering beats.

First, check out STICHBOY’s aptly titled “The Storm,” which serves as a metaphor for a relationship gone sour. Their unique songwriting takes you through each phase of a rainstorm, starting off slow and calm, with relaxing sounds of light rain and rolling waves. This melodic monotony morphs into a hard rock style that recalls the fury of a downpour. The tune ends as it began, feeling repercussions of the storm but slowly retreating. If electronic music is more your style, Mosquito’s mastery of slow tension-building and climax culminate in “The Storm.” The moody rhythms and driving bass line are sure to put you into a fervent trance. Finally, if cleansing and renewal are what you seek, David Thompson/RIDER’s “Storms of Madness” is a solid tune with a classic rock feel. The lyrics will wash over you like a fresh rainstorm on a hot summer day.
