THE BROKEN MAN:
The quote above was a most apt description of the life of Richie Batson just four and one-half short years ago. Despair and hopelessness were his (mis)trusted companions, feeding off of the vacuous area within his soul. Through the prayers of others, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ, his soul was filled with the only occupant that could bring peace and joy, the Holy Spirit.
Today, Richie is a new man, literally and figuratively. The transformation of his life by Christ is readily seen, and heard...
THE HEALING SPIRIT:
Richie's music is, first and foremost, his most honest and sincere attempt to praise The One who first loved him. It just so happens that his music is lyrically and musically intriguing, and his sound is somewhat unique in the genre of Contemporary Christian Music. Some of his songs have been described as follows: "nice guitar dynamics and musical feel. Long developing for Nashville pitch and eclectic in terms of approach...", and, "Pretty dramatic musically - has almost a heavy rock vibe..."
These unique elements of Richie's music may make it more difficult for his songs to be embraced by the mainstream Christian market, but guess what? Richie would have it no other way. He considers it a honor to stand apart from the "norm", especially when it involves the worship he offers to his Creator.
Richie currently writes, arranges, produces and records songs at his home in Paintsville, KY. He also speaks and performs regularly at local churches and functions, where he praises his Savior and relates his story in a very personal way, as he learns daily what Christ will do with a life surrendered to Him.
