John Richardson mixes genres and styles freely, combining a singer-songwriter's aptitude for songwriting with vintage and alternative acoustic rock, urban and electronic soundscapes, classical and experimental influences (from minimalism to modernism, sound design, film music (from Rota to Zimmer) and the dreamlike qualities of psychedelic pop, post rock and art rock. Richardson's debut solo album, The Fold, was released in March 2017 (Svart Records). Richardson is based in Turku and performs with his band, Slow Floe, and in smaller groups around Finland and elsewhere. He is known for collaborations with internationally renowned musicians including the sound artist Petri Kuljuntausta (Visions and Play; Sounds!), and the songwriter and guitarist Kimi Kärki (Bone of my Bones; Eye for an Eye).
