A Brief History
Why do you write songs?
Because I must. I hear the music in my head constantly. I like to think of it as the "Soundtrack Of My Life". It's not always good, but when it is, I get excited, I get goose bumps, and then I start laying it down. For me, the feeling of accomplishment comes when I am happy with the finished product. I get in the car, put the top down and the stereo up, and drive around listening to it over and over. It's just about my favorite thing in the world to do.
Who are your main influences?
Kris Kristofferson, Sonny Throckmorton, Robert Earl Keen, J.D. Souther, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tyler/Perry, Mick & Keith, Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt. The list goes on and on.
Who's your favorite songwriter and why?
It's a toss up, between Robert Earl Keen & Sonny Throckmorton. Why? The BEST songs, the ones that give you chills, paint a vivid picture and tell a story. They come to life. Those guys do that better than anyone in my opinion.
How would you describe your music and the kinds of songs you write?
Fun, without being too shallow. I want my lyrics to mean something, but I never lose that old rock and roll spirit either.
What's your favorite song that you've written to date?
Hell, I don't know! right now its The TroubIe With Angels, but love them all! I am definitely my biggest fan & think everything I write is wonderful. That's why I'm here! So I can find out what's good and what sucks, then improve and ultimately make a living doing what I love. I just hope everyone enjoys and hopefully comes away from the listening experience with something pure and positive..... With love, -Drewcifer ;)
