When asked what was it like working under the tutelage of one of Motown's greats, Norman Whitfield, Mark Kenoly, producer of the cd, sat back in his chair, looked up at the ceiling and smiled wistfully. "The fascinating thing about that time period," he began "was that we did not think about our impact on musical history, we were just happy to be getting paid to play music all the time." He continued, "there were times during the hay day of the six years of playing for Norman that I would be sitting there in his office looking at the walls covered with all of the gold and platinum records and say 'Wow'! One thing that I will never forget is that when things were going well we would go to the studio and put in two 15 hour days and finish one whole album. Norman would just order some food and say "keep on playing!" ". Mark went on to establish himself as the studio bass player and then cut his teeth with his first producing assignment while working with a group named Jr. Walker & the all
