Hi! Thanks for the nice review of" Highway of forgotten dreams"( it was recorded 15 yrs. ago) :) looking forward to listening to your music!... Blessings, Julia

hey dave, thanks so much for your review of flower. It was very helpful. That was my first attempt at recording myself (everything else i've done has been at a studio where someone else did the mixing). Anyway, I'm gonna go back in there and try to implement some of your suggestions. Thanks again!

Hey Jeff, thanks for the review of 'Daci'. I can see how it would seem incoherent. I wrote it for a modern dance choreographer, so without seeing the dance, it doesn't make much sense. Maybe not the best song to put up here. You mentioned something about the bass player needing work on composition (I'm a percussionist, and I played all the parts on this song except the violin); if you have specific suggestions or critiques on better bass lines, I would appreciate it. Thanks again! --Wachira

OK it makes much more sense now. I hate it when people review an ambient piece of mine and say things like "it needs a chorus." I was guessing that this was a bass player's work because it's bass heavy. There are places there the bass is busy and good but could be a bit tighter to the beat. If that's you playing then you're pretty damn good on the bass.

I used to belong to the defunct Garage Band review site, and it had features that allowed the artist to cue the reviewer on the things they wanted feedback on. I miss that; instead we have "Is it marketable?" Well I guess if I knew was marketable I'd have hit songs.

Anyway the distinct, unrelated sections make perfect sense given the dance context. And as before, there are good things happening here.

Thanks for reviewing my song Single Cherry Blossom. Unlike the other person that reviewed it, you actually provided useful feedback instead of not liking it because it's simply "not your style". The song was influenced by RZA of The Wutang Clan, but I guess it didn't sound like rap because I only do instrumentals, so I see how it couldn't be rap. Thanks for the review! :D

You have reviewed a few of my songs and provided very useful feedback. It's nice when people take the time to articulate their positive, but more importantly, constructive criticisms. Also, I enjoy your sounds!

Hey Cole. Thanks for the review. I am wondering whether you listened to the whole song, based on the fact that you classified it as new age? Also wondering why under general comments you put original, although you gave me a 2/5 on originality?

There's a difference between original and originality :)

an original song is a song written by someone... a new song. originality is something that is unique... difference the eay i see :)

Thanks Wachira for you review of God Is Calling.

Thank you for being very honest in your review of Till the Cows. I wasn't sure how people would take the beginning, and I was afraid that I might lose people before it picked up, but I just decided to go for it. There probably will be a better incarnation of it in the future.

That tune is hipper than you realize, or maybe you do. It's hip (you *have* listened to a lot of Gil Scott Heron no?) How about swapping "didn't sold me" (OUCH) with "Don't you say what was that he sold me?" or similar. Or stay with "told me" and hit hard. Was it Dizzy Gillespie that said "If you play a wrong note do it twice like you meant it" ?

The lyrics in this tune demand repeated listens. And thank God for some intelligent rap (like Diggable Planets).

Hey, thanks for reviewing Blush. It was good to get an outside perspective. I totally agree with your critique. I recorded it with some guys who are not professionals, just got some recording equipment and decided they wanted to try it out for fun. I told them several times I wanted the drums to be more present, but they couldn't seem to figure out how to do it. Also, I taught the backup vocalists their part on the spot that day, and then they just jumped right in. It was a good learning experience. I'll be more thorough next time.

Hey Till the Cows was one of the most intriguing things I've heard in a long time. Blush is cool too. Consider yourself "followed" --it's refreshing to hear your work.

Wachria - Thank you for your review my instrumental track, 'Been Down This Road." I have the instrumental track listed under the "Country" genre simply because the complete song (with vocals) fits into the Country genre, but I totally see where it might throw people off. I appreciate the feedback, as I am fairly new at putting my music out in this type of format. Best of luck with your own musical endeavours. ~ Nick

wachira, thanks for the reviews (-5, unleashed). i was wondering what you meant by "ambiguous" in terms of the vocals. i kept mainly to mirroring the riff lines with some melisma and suspensions inter weaved. just trying to get a feel for what you were hearing so i can understand better.

good job on "blush", lots going on in there!

thanks!

I was kind of nit picky on the vocals, because overall they were good. What I meant was just for a split second here and there, the pitch wouldn't be quite as clear, and I think it was mostly on the melismas. Where you started and where you ended up were clear, but somewhere in between the sound would slightly lose focus for just a fraction of a second.

WAchira, thanks for the veriy nice review of our tune, LET THE BLUES BEGIN. it's gratifying to get favorable peer reviews.
