The arrangement is really nice!....I love all the background instrumentation!...the cool transitions!!...the dynamics..and an outstanding vocal which honestly would be a hard one to copy! Great job -as usual...love it!!..you never disappoint!!!...Congrats!!!!!!

Hey Mr. LP....it's been a while my friend!...I certainly love listening to your superior music from most on this site! You can hear the talent and appreciate it! I't's always an "ear-gasm"!!!...how do you like that one!!?...it's original!!...Feel free to use it!!!..I hope all is good with you and family! I'm presently getting together with a drummer friend whom I've known for many years. He is the drummer for a pretty well known party band here on L.I. called "NAKED TRUTH"(they actually played at my wedding-1991)..a big band with full horn section!! At one time they as well as my brothers group "AESOPS FABLES" were considered the best out there at a time when bands were really big on Long Island...of course many decades ago! I have a catalog of some really decent tunes that I want to record with him...just the 2 of us! It will be like how me and my brother started ...so I'm a little excited about it! It's going to take time and a lot of energy...so who knows .time I have(I think)..hopefully it will work out. Most of the tunes that I have are in the Bruce Hornsby type genre(sort of)! I remember my brother telling me that I was playing Hornsby...way before anyone heard of him...and I guess that's true...since I can do whatever he's done(sometimes I think even a little better...lol) I just have to re-learn all the electronics on the old Roland VS-1880. It's older stuff but can still bang out a really good recording to CD. Please wish us some luck?! Of course you would be one of the first to have a listen! Because of your superior ear and skill and I would like your opinion!! Thanx for staying tight with me...I really appreciate it!...this is what Broadjam is all about...making some good friends along the way!!!
Wishing you more music success & good health!!
TK-BG

I laughed outload at "ear-gasm" and only wished that I'd thought of that! I will take you up on using it but will certainly give you the credit for penning that one!

The project you described sounds really cool... a good use of time for sure! Go for it! Plus, I've always liked the stuff that I've heard from Bruce Hornsby, so ya can't go wrong there in my book. Best of luck on that project, I look forward to hearing what ya'll put down.

Thanks again for listening to my stuff. I'm hoping to get a few tunes up on Broadjam that have needed vocals... I'm experimenting with some new tools to get that done. I'll certainly let you know once they're up.

Take care out there... be and stay well!

Frank

Hi Frank, I listened to some of you other songs, "Sunday She Knows" is awesome, really like it. I wish the sample rate on this site was higher, the true fidelity and sound quality is poor and hurts the listening experience and makes many of the songs sound amateurish when they're really not. Your overall style and approach appeals to me and is similar to what I try to do as well. Just wondering, what DAW do you use?, do you do all your own recording and mixing? Do you have a regular 9-5 job? OR are you a full time musician? Thank You, Scott S

Hi Scott,
I know what you mean about the sample rate (and file type) limitations on Broadjam.

In regard to DAW, I use Pro Tools Studio... started into the DAW world with Pro Tools in 2002 and haven't used anything else. But in full transparency, I'm certainly not a Pro Tools elite/expert like so many out there.

I do all my own recording and mixing... and am trying to learn more about the mysterious art of Mastering.

And I do indeed have a "real" job... which actually has turned into a career... I've been with Nebraska Medicine for 33 years. But before that, I did spend about 15+ years playing professionally in various local Top 40 cover bands and spent several years in a full time (50 weeks a year, 6 nights a week) travelling Top 40/Show Band. But for the past 23 years I've chosen to just write/record original music... no live gigging.

So... I'm extremely blessed in that I've have the experience of both!

Thanks for checking out some of my stuff... I'll peruse your music some more over the next few days.

Have a great weekend,
Frank

Hi Shelly,

My pleasure, I enjoyed the listen--- I do have a new one "The Last Of Me" which is a more emotional piece, quite different than my other recent tunes, always a risk to go sad with a song!! Keep creating !!!

Hey Frank...hope all is good with you!!...I just listened to your tune "CLASSICAL CRUISE"....beautiful composition...5/5 because nothing higher....lol...I've been listening to alot in the classical genre lately...I had extensive tutoring in classical music as a young teenager...loved it then...appreciate it even more now. The classical training definitely had a major impact on how I developed my style and how I play...even if it's in a progressive nature! Gotta love this stuff! It rules...pretty much like you!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and listening... and I really appreciate the 5 Stars!

Yeah, I really like classical music as well. Although I'm self-taught, I really have been influenced from a variety of the "mainstream" classical composers... Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, etc.

I've got a few other classical pieces peppered throughout my Broadjam stuff; Classical Cruise is an obvious one. One Red Rose Interlude is another where I attempted a classical approach to that piece.

I'll drop by your page for a new listen... it's a been a minute since I was there.

Thanks again and have a great one!!

Frank

Just had a listen to WAY TOO LONG... love it! The motifs, changes and melodies are really nice... thoughtful with a bit of mystery to them. I especially liked the production and vocal on this one... and the organ solo... very nice! Ya just don't hear those much anymore... so thanks for that!!

5 Stars and Playlist add from me! Great tune!!

Frank

Hi Sandra and thanks for reviewing my song "Adam and the Ant".

I appreciate you taking the time to listen and provide your perspectives. I'm guessing/hoping the low scores are related to your preference in writing/recording methodology as opposed to song structure and composition.

While I understand and relate to your sentiment that, "... it still matters to me to hear music originating (at least mostly) from actual instruments, played by actual people. I just was not hearing that. But any way that anyone makes music is valid..." please consider that I do play most all of the parts on my songs (usually playing the drum parts as well), and I do consider my keyboards actual instruments. For Adam and the Ant, I did actually play all the parts.

In an ideal world I'd have access to musicians that were willing and able to record original songs on a moment's notice and do so for the love of creating/recording. The reality for me (and many other writers/musicians) just isn't that way. I don't have the budget to hire "actual people" to learn, play, record my songs with me.

So as opposed to not writing/recording the songs I have in my head, I opt to do the next best thing and record them by laying the arts myself.

Please consider this when reviewing critiquing artists/songs.

While I'm here I'll have a listen to some of your music.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen.

Be and stay well,
Frank

Hi, Frank!
Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. "Adam and the Ant" is a good, fun song and you absolutely understand how song structure works! And yes, playing keyboards IS real music (not my strong suit). I think that you are right and you raised some good points. I think that maybe I had some "listening fatigue" (reviewed a rocker just before "Adam" and before that, some super autotuned pop tunes). So, my apologies. You did deserve a better review.

Absolutely no worries Sandra. I've been on Broadjam for a while, and I've learned (via open/honest feedback from various members) how I can improve all aspects of my passion for music... from the writing/recording of it, to the listening and critiquing of it.

You've written/recorded some really great music and I look forward to listening to more of it.

Thanks and as always... be and stay well,
Frank

Hi again Randy,
Looks like Broadjam cued up a couple of mine for you. Thanks for listening to and reviewing "Sweet Dixie Bride". That's quite an old one... back when I was recording on a Fostex 8 Track with Ensoniq stuff and an E-mu Proteus! The drums are a Roland R8... I used to love "playing drums" on that thing! There are a few old instrumentals on my Broadjam page from that era... Adam and The Ant, Hamilton's Soft Shoe, Sammy's Groove Shop, Night Becomes Her... kinda fun to keep those around for posterity's sake.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen and provide meaningful comments.

Frank

Hi Randy,
Thanks so much for taking the time to review my song "Mom's Journey Home". I really do appreciate your thoughtful and useful perspectives/comments.

One day I'll have to take the time to re-record that one using the better sound library that I have today. alas though, I've lost the original Pro Tools session, so I'd have to start from scratch... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. ;)

That's something that I am so impressed with in your pieces (see previous comment/question below) ... the detailing/articulations in your orchestral tracks/performances.

Thanks again for the review.

Frank
