Ten31 Biography
Ten31 consists of Virgil & Julie Taylor and James Radford. They are based outside of Austin, TX.
Julie began singing with various bands, including the Steroids and Animal Farm, at age 17. Songwriting is her passion, and her vast and eclectic tastes in music have greatly colored her own work. She cites artists Kate Bush, Elton John (the old stuff), The Pretenders, The Specials, Rich Mullins, English Beat, Queen, Waterdeep, and Toad the Wet Sprocket as some of her favorite artists, and says that the influence of all of these crop up in her songwriting from time to time. Julie contributes rhythm guitar and vocals to Ten31.
Virgil joined up with Julie in about 1997. He includes Rush, Led Zeppelin, Joe Satriani, Third Day, and Abraham Laboriel as his influences.
Most of the songs on Broadjam were initially recorded with Chris White in Austin, utilizing such talent as Chris Maresh on bass, Jason White and Kyle Thompson on drums, Billy White and Wayne "Trip" Hunt on guitars, Richard Lopez on saxes, and other Austin musicians. They worked with Zach Huckabee at Huckadoodle Studios in Burnet, and Joel Guzman finished the recording as both a musician and producer.
While Ten31's music styles vary, their lyrics focus on life situations and the hope that is in Jesus Christ.
