Just Another Weekend

Story Behind The Song

David Crosby said you have to write about what happens to you if you're going to get down to something that means anything, and my songs are mostly autobiographical. I was 39 and living in Denver when I started writing this song. I did all the busy things I had to do on the weekends while hoping to find a girlfriend, then I'd go to the dance at the school at night. The song sat for a long time and I decided to finish it.

Lyrics

Out on the street
People rush or they greet
There is paper upon the sidewalk
I'm lookin' out the window and the world's looking back at me.

There's groceries to get
And laundry to do
I'll wander inside a bookstore
It's just another weekend, just another weekend for me.

I want to go where the lovers go
I want to do what they do
I don't want to live my life alone
Oh, when will my dreams come true?

Don't need a list, I'll find what I need
I stroll through a maze of aisles
A couple holding hands
Oh, when will that happen to me? Ah-ah

Wait at the checkstand
Gaze at the time
And hurry to send a package
It's just another weekend, just another weekend for me.

I want to go where the lovers go
I want to do what they do
Walk through the trees over scattered leaves
Oh, when will my dreams come true?

I want to go where the lovers go
I want to do what they do
I don't want to live my life alone
Oh, when will my dreams come true?

The moon is a crescent
I'll drive to the dance
Inside of an old school building
Love is for sale
The cashier hands a ticket to me, ah-ah

Those eyes that I see
Are looking at me
Or is it just wishful thinking
It's just another weekend, just another weekend for me
Just another weekend for me, just another weekend for me.

nice tone and vocal relaxing mood good for movie

Well recorded and good instrumentation.

I like is that mandolin I am hearing? It really gives it a different vibe with that in there. Great job!

Nice take on a universal theme, well sung and played. Very relatable to most folks, regardless of gender. Well done.

Well constructed and delivered. Wonderful story of everyones lives. Pro production. Well done.

Great folk song from a great writer, the vocalist on this track has the perfect voice for this track. Great lyrical content with a wonderful story of hopefulness. Wonderful song.
