Lyrics

Farewell

I'll be gone in the morning when you open your eyes
I'll see the dawn breaking, 'neath far away skies
But not quite as far as the distance I felt
When I tried hard to be close to you

I'm saving you the trouble of watching all your dreams fade
The sad recognition of the mistake that you made
When you thought I was someone who'd rescue your heart
Cause that's something I just can't do

God knows I've tried for you, given my best
But I still left you wanting, I still failed the test
It was never a question of not enough love
But still there was something I didn't have enough of

So, I'll be gone in the morning, and I'm wishing you well
The next one could be the real thing, you never can tell
You'll be in my heart 'til the day that I die
So farewell, I love you, goodbye
So farewell, I love you, goodbye
(I love you, goodbye)

I think the lyrics are very strong. I really like the melody. Great vocal performance and use of backing vocals. Lovely chord changes at 1.04 and 1.06 etc., indeed the way the lyrics meld with the chord changes is superb. The vibe of the song reminds me of The Eagles.

Great song, nice vibe, great instrumentation and originality. Recording was good and hook was good especially with the background vocals. Great job!
