Ty Delta for reviewing my song The Ornament. Yes, it was sad.
True story that happened to me.
It is me singing.
Always been told my voice sounds young....
Ty again.

Thanks Delta on a kind score on "The Longest Night". As far as the meaning of the lyrics, I tend to be vague and metaphorical. It can be memories of a trauma like war or the trauma of abuse growing up in any form. It can be a troubling relationship or marriage issue. I think i blanketed a lot of "what if's" that could qualify. It also is semi-autobiographical but I tend to keep that vague element when it comes to myself. Cheers

Scott, glad you liked "The Elfin Knight" it is a long song and if I remember it had 26 verses... I brought it down and had to make sure it still had a viable story line... story telling is what I like best. So thanks for hanging in till the end...In music 🎶🎶🎶

Frank, Thank you for the review of "Do You Hear What I Hear" loved this song forever....Songs are never finished til mastered and producer always looking for feedback. You always do a great review. Also stars appreciated on this song....always in music Delta🎶🎶🎶

Steve, thank you for the review of "Get Even" my former son in law and friend wrote the song...for Xmas one year I gave him 4 hours in a studio to record their song and believe me it was head banging ... straight edge skater sound... well I asked if I could do it my way...and that is what you heard... the were very gracious and ended up liking what I did... again thank you.

Scott, Just a note to let you know when I get a song to review I do the best to give a review that lets the musicians know how it made me feel. For the most part I give 50 out of 50 because most deserve to be recognized for their effort... and for the most part I like what I hear... If I can't give a solid review I pass and go to the next.... To give someone all 1's is not fair to anyone who has done the best for that moment. We all have different ears and hear differently... that is the best part don't you think????
I will always be a friend in music Delta🎶🎶🎶

Hey Delta thanks for the note. I quess I was just venting a bit but when I get a review, which are few and far between, and it's just all 3s right down the line and in the comments I get three word and ,three words only, such as "Thanks for sharing" or something of the like, it tells me that the song was not listened to it was just marked and the reviewer moved on to the next one and seems to be happing more and more. So thanks for putting up with my rant. hahah I always enjoy your music my friend and thanks again. Scott

Your comments are correct across the board, Scott. I have noticed a definite change that really escalated last year. There are those like yourself, Delta, Frank, Art, who will sincerely put consideration and thought as I would that are very good and useful; but most of what I have seen are two sentences that don't seem to pertain to anything followed by mediocre scores and no explanation for them. Seems like there's much more the "me me me me" attitude going on out there. I have learned to not post those and I have taken several of my songs off my open for review list. It's part of what I've called Broadjam Burnout. I haven't engaged much in the last few months and I have to refocus...stick with the good friends who have the good, supportive, cooperative attitudes, and sense of fun, who do make Broadjam very much worthwhile.

Hey John you are spot on my friend, things really changed dramatically when they updated the web page. My current stats for reviews I have reviewed 499 songs and have been reviewed 170.. what? what is wrong with this picture, damn. Then you have to wait forever to get a review and your excited to see what was said and all you get is mediocre scores and one line. My last review for "Nice try Kid" was, and I quote. "Reminds me of the 70s" what a belly flop. So as I said I will continue to do reviews but I will no longer allow my music to be randomly reviewed. Thanks again John.

That's a review??? What a flippant display of laziness! "Yeah, yeah, I'll come up with a sentence, mark it blah, send it off, and then I want big raves and high scores for my masterpiece because my next step is Capitol Records and the Billboard charts!" I've had a lot of weird ones and there's a lot of members who can relate. For "Stay Here Now" I got "It sounds too retro ... I can't find the hook" followed with a rash of 1s. The wackiest one I got because it was so out there was from some New Age woo-woo crackpot. She put "We Didn't Have Time Enough" on the therapist's couch, gave it low scores, and said, "One shouldn't give oneself away without getting someone else back."

Bob, one of your songs came up for review and I knew it was you and your song... but before I could give a full review something happened and it went away...story of mother taking you under her wing....I must tell you, you had me with tears running down my face...I hope I was that kind of mom for my 3 girls....I remember when they would have a bad dream I would turn their pillow over, and tell them the other side only had good dreams...
Sorry about the review maybe it will come again...always in music....Delta

Hi Delta, thanks for letting me know. No worry about the review, it's easily done. The song is called Under Her Wing, it reached the finals in two categories of the 2022 UK Songwriting Contest, I was disappointed not to win one of them. It's probably my best song, especially as it wasn't written about my own experiences, I just put myself in someone else's place and wrote from their stand point. My childhood was not without it's problems, but it wasn't generally an unhappy one.
I'm pleased it moved you, that means it's doing it's job.

Much obliged,

Bob

Hi Rolce, I finally have a moment to thank you for the most in depth review I have ever had... You found my "I Who Have Nothing" which is a cover song from 1963 and sung by Ben E King from a translated Italian love song.... My choice was to sing it as a lament.... I have heard it sung with angst...Mary Byrnes, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassie....my songs on BJ are never radio ready until they are ready for a cd... my producer loves to get any and all feedback to help him produce songs better for me through the help of other ears.... we all hear differently...
I have natural vibrato in my voice which can lead listeners to think I should sing toward Opera which is where I put Charlotte Church... but my love of the story gets in the way.... If I had lived in the before times I would go from place to place with my harp or lute and sing stories of love, heroes, battles, and probably been a man...I do love a good story...
I liked your one song I found... and thank you for your time....you are welcome to give a listen to any of my list of songs on my bj page...
I am always a friend in music.....Delta

Bob, Thank you for the review of my "Summertime" contemp.... The song was recorded A cappela and music added later... I also have it in an original version....I have been singing this for about 60 years...my vocals are never hard driven... more on the lullaby or lament side...
again thank you....in music Delta

Delta, beautiful cover of Art and Margie Corey's "One Time We Cared." I really like the guitar arrangement and the soulful bringing out of the lyrics. Art and Margie are great songwriters and you interpreted their song with the emotion it deserves.
